stop stopping, and start

start now, before you know it you'll be at the top

ded·i·ca·tion

noun

1. the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose.

"Where do I start?"

"Who can guide me?"

I think we've all faced these questions in our lives at some point. We have all over-thought a task and were hesitant to start or just never started. Never starting can pave a great path to regret.

We make beginning a new challenge hard, even if just starting it would be easy enough. We do this by how we speak to ourselves. How we communicate what we want or need for ourselves.

Quitting smoking, losing weight, stop spending...

Quitting, losing, stop. All things that don't scream "START". Perhaps that's why it seems so difficult. Breaking a habit or beginning a new habit can seem terrifying when no one is there to guide you through the things you need to change. However, depending how we say our goals to ourselves could be a great first step. For example, "starting a new journey to wellness" maybe be a longer way to say it, generally if you are telling yourself what you're doing in a neutral or even exciting way, that's all that should matter. If you are truly beginning a new chapter in your life, quitting or starting, how you tell yourself is completely in your control and does not need to be heard by the public to provide opinions on.

Granted if you need help, seeking the people that propel you to meet your goals could help you decide how you speak to yourself. Mental health is out there now, resources are also out there. Improving behaviours may be easier than anyone has ever thought it could be in this day in age. Seeking counsel or guidance from a professional shouldn’t be embarrassing, this motivation should be celebrated, congratulated.

That my friend, is what self-love looks like. Treating yourself positively and nurturing your own growth. Whether it may be mentally, emotionally or physically, your mind, body and spirit will be affected equally. You will feel better.

If you're looking for a ‘new’ word this year, practice Dedication. Even when it seems hard to do, do it because the moment you let go of your momentum you have to push hard again. So make it easy on yourself.

Dedicate yourself to you. Start that right now.
