Dear Younger Me,
I know you’re trying so hard right now to hold everything together. You smile when you’re tired, say “I’m fine” when you’re not, and keep moving forward even when the weight of it all feels too heavy. I see you — and I’m proud of you.
There’s so much I wish I could tell you, but I’ll start with this: you’re going to be okay. Not perfect, not without setbacks — but okay in a way that feels peaceful and steady. You will grow in ways you can’t imagine, and you’ll learn to stop being so hard on yourself.
I know you worry a lot — about doing everything right, about disappointing people, about not being “enough.” But let me say this: you are enough. Right now, just as you are. You don’t need to prove your worth by how much you carry or how little you complain. You don’t need to have everything figured out. No one really does — we’re all just learning as we go.
You’ll make mistakes — some small, some that keep you up at night. But you’ll learn from them, and they’ll shape you into someone wiser, kinder, more grounded. You’ll discover that you can rebuild even after the moments that break you. And those cracks? They’ll let the light in.
There will be people who don’t stay, who don’t support you, who don’t see your value. Let them go. Not everyone is meant to walk your whole journey with you — some people are only passing through to teach you a lesson. And that’s okay. Don’t chase after those who made you feel small. Your energy is too precious to be wasted on trying to shrink yourself for someone else’s comfort.
The love you’re looking for? It starts with you. Learn to be gentle with yourself. Forgive yourself. Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love — with kindness, patience, and understanding. That voice inside your head becomes the loudest one you hear, so make it a good one.
Also — please rest. Don’t wait until you’re burned out or broken. Rest when you’re tired. Say no when you need to. Set boundaries, even if it’s uncomfortable. You don’t need to earn rest or prove that you’re “doing enough.” You already are.
And hey — keep writing. Even if you think no one’s reading. Even if the words feel messy or not good enough. Your voice matters. Your story matters. You have something to say, and the world is a little better when you share it.
And when you feel like you’re behind, like everyone else is moving faster or doing better — breathe. Life isn’t a race. It’s not about who gets there first or who looks the most polished along the way. You’re on your own timeline, and there is no “right” way to grow. Give yourself permission to go slow. To change your mind. To start over.
Some days will feel like a mess. You’ll forget what you were aiming for. You’ll feel lost. But even then, you’ll be learning — about who you are, what matters, and how to keep showing up for yourself. That is something to be proud of, too.
You won’t always see it, but you’re becoming someone strong and beautiful. Someone who can sit with pain and still choose to love. Someone who can face uncertainty and still move forward. Someone who knows their worth — finally.
So when the days feel heavy, and you’re not sure what the point is — keep going. One step at a time. You’re building a life, even when it doesn’t feel like it. Trust that.
I’ll see you soon,
