Here are 7 habits you can try to get started:
1. Do one thing at a time
Many people multitask instead of focusing on one thing at a time, but it can actually reduce productivity and increase mistakes. When you are doing more than one thing at the same time, your brain has to jump from task to task which slows down everything including your mood. So do only one activity
2. Smile more
Smiling has been shown to boost our mood and make us happier overall. When we smile, it releases endorphins that make us feel good. So next time you 're feeling down, flash a smile.
3. Set a personal goal for each day
Trying to accomplish one personal goal each day will make you feel good and help your self esteem. It doesn't matter what it is, as long as it's positive and challenging in some way whether it be physical, mental or spiritual - the only requirement is that you make it personal.
4. Drink more water
Drinking more water every day has many benefits to your health, skin, digestive system and also your mental well-being. The recommended amount is 8 glasses of water each day but if you feel like this is too much for you, start small by drinking one glass a day.
5. Spend time in nature
Spending time in nature has shown to improve mental health and happiness levels, relieve stress and makes us feel more alive. Spend some time each day outdoors to get your dose of nature's magic.
6. Don't compare yourself to others
Comparing ourselves with others is a fast track to feeling like we fall short in comparison or that we aren't good enough, or worse , that we're better than them . It also causes feelings of envy and resentment. So next time you feel the urge to compare, remember that everyone is different for a reason and that's okay.
7. Connect with a friend or family member
Humans are social animals and we need connection with others in order to be content. Reach out to a friend or family member each day for some quality conversation.
Not having enough time to accomplish all that we want is something that most people struggle with in order to feel accomplished. Try planning your day the night before. Write down your tasks for the next day and prioritize them based on how important they are. Envision each task getting completed one by one until you're done for the day.
Listening to music can help improve our mood and wellbeing. It's been shown to lower stress levels, increase focus and productivity, and make us happier. Choose happy uplifting songs to listen to each day.
Exercising releases endorphins that make us feel good and can help improve our moods . Even if it's just for a few minutes , the important thing is that it's something you enjoy and can incorporate into your daily life.
Be grateful for what we have.
Gratitude makes us appreciate the little things and allows us to focus on what we already have. It also helps improve our sleep, concentration and feelings of self worth. Each day, before going to bed, write down 5 things you're grateful for and why.
Paying attention to something, whether it be a person, place or thing slows down time and makes us feel more present in the moment.
