Today we’re going to be talking about your Busy Brain Handbrakes and how they hinder you from doing what you’d enjoy as your life.
What I call Busy Brain Handbrakes are the times when your brain is in control and it’s got you ‘running’ all over the place in your head. Of course this picture will be different for all of us but the results are much the same.
Something I’ve discovered is that the more you grow into knowing yourself, the more stealth-like the brain becomes. (smile)
Journaling for Knowledge
Busy Brains tend to throw you into Overwhelm, don’t they? And living in overwhelm is never going to be what you’d choose.
To discover more consider these points using a journal if this works for you or just go through them in your mindscape. The point is to gain a clearer picture of how you work.
• What does overwhelm feel like for you?
• How does it show up in your body?
• Do you get pressure in your shoulders?
• Does your stomach get tight?
Getting to know these clues helps you to disengage the brain and move differently.

Is your tomorrow all mapped out by the time you go to bed (even before?)
Do you find yourself running over and over your schedule to make sure it’s all running to schedule?
The problem, when we find ourselves living in the uncomfortable world of Overwhelm is that there seems little room for some of the more important things like
• Magic
• Nature
• Fun
• Movement
• Joy
• Laughter
Oh, yes, we do find some of these through our busy times, but our lives would be so much richer with MORE.
We’ve allowed our brain to be in charge instead of it being the back up computer.
This is the training we’ve had, I feel, and it’s training that we need to undo to bring back a life of joyful living.
Here’s one solution
The solution is reasonably simple and complicated in the same breath. Get to know those signs of being in that fast forward moment, of being that little bit anxious and then, the very moment that you identify the cause, you (mentally or physically) do a 360 degree turn and reset back to YOU.
I promote that you create a reminder of your decision to rewire your brain on this subject. Keep a small memento in your pocket, a photo on the dashboard, a happy based magnet on the fridge.
Once you discover the most frequent time and space for your own Busy Brain Moments, then that’s the place to begin, that’s the space to plant these reminders. Then move ahead with Love and Joy.
