I truly believe that everyone out there could benefit from leafing through one or two best-selling self-help books out there. Whether it's a book about learning to clean up your life, or a book that helps millions stay clean, top-rated books on self-improvement have inspired millions to change their lives for the better.

The cool thing about the most popular self-help books out there is that you can often find people who were seriously impacted by them. Wondering which bestsellers are my favorites? Well, here are my top picks in each major self-help category out there.

Currently one of the greatest best-selling self-help books of the decade, Unfuck Yourself is a book that's totally dedicated to getting you thinking in a healthy, productive, and unfucked manner. If you feel like life's left you broken, this book will help you fix yourself.

What makes it so popular is that Bishop doesn't try to hide behind flowery language or metaphysical nonsense when he offers advice. He keeps it real, and makes a point of avoiding classic self-help advice that doesn't really do anything.

The advice in this book is actionable, brutally honest, and often acts as the tough love we always need but never get.

Have you ever had a day where someone said something, and it derailed you for the entire day? We all have moments in life where something we hear or see triggers us and causes us to think differently for better or for worse.

This is one of the few best-selling self-help books that uses psychological triggers to help people improve their lives. Triggers is the kind of book that, when used as a tool, can seriously change your life for the better.

How to Win Friends and Influence People is one of the top best-selling self-help books of all time and has now been incorporated into a lot of major college courses because of its great advice. It's the first book to provide actionable advice and insight to the art of being social and basically paved the way for thousands of others.

Carnegie's advice has become the basis of many businessmen's lives and as such, still reigns supreme among self-help literature for both personal and corporate readers. This advice is actionable, and the unequivocally easy-to-understand book still remains the best guidebook to understanding people as possible.

Millions of books have been sold from his line, and even more impressively, it still remains one of the most regularly mentioned books in New York Times history.

Perhaps one of the only best-selling self-help books to be given out in manga form, The Life-Changing Manga of Tidying Up is all about helping people clean themselves up—literally.

In it, clean queen Marie Kondo explains how our environments influence our feelings and life. She then offers a new way to tidy up, which focuses on promoting happiness rather than stuffing away clutter.

Speaking as someone who's tried the Kondo method, I can honestly say that it's changed my life for the better. That's why it's one of my picks and why it's so popular.

Rather than talk about cleaning up your closet or your mind, how about your financial standing? Think and Grow Rich is one of the smartest best-selling self-help books in the field of personal finance, and if you're feeling lost about where you should be headed, it's a must-have.

Much like How to Win Friends and Influence People, Hill's Think and Grow Rich is a book that has withstood the test of time. Ever since 1937, people have used this book to figure out what the traits of highly successful people are and emulate them.

Realistic and easy-to-follow tips are what make Think and Grow Rich such a great read, no matter who you are.

Often considered to be one of the best self-help books for men, this remains one of the highest-grossing, best-selling self-help books on Amazon today. The approach to this book is incredibly straightforward and is one that's universal in its nature.

As most of us know, people judge us and criticize us every step of the way. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck is all about learning how to quash critical remarks and actually live for yourself. If you've been feeling overly judged, Mason will offer you some tough love that you need.

If you're the type of person who adores inspiring stories and a little bit of mysticism, you'll understand why The Alchemist is one of the greatest best-selling self-help books of all time. Paulo Coelho uses beautiful imagery, rich allegories, and a brilliant journey through the world to explain reasons why we should all follow our dreams.

A while back, the 48 Laws of Power became one of the most notorious best-selling self-help books in the world—and actually got so much attention, rapper 50 Cent helped write The 50th Law, its sequel. This book is all about how people gain influence, prestige, and power through social maneuvering and more.

If you've been lacking the ability to get people on your side, reading this will definitely help you learn why. The reason why these tips are called the "laws of power" is because they really do work like the laws of nature.

Jen Sincero's book might be relatively new compared to others on here, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the smarter best-selling self-help books on store shelves. Due to the uplifting, "fuck the haters" nature of this book, it's currently one of the best self-help books for women to read.

You Are a Badass is the loving pep talk that everyone needs once in a while, all while offering realistic advice, too. If you suffer from anxiety or just tend to cope poorly with self-doubt, reading this book will help you get on the right track.
