Hey friends, it's that time of year again where we start to think about resolutions and goals for the new year. While I'm usually one to avoid making lists and putting too much pressure on myself, I've found it helpful to reflect on what's been working well for me over the past 12 months. So in that spirit, I wanted to share some of the habits that have really made a difference - the ones that have been quietly leveling me up day by day. Maybe they'll give you a thing or two to consider as you start mapping out your own 2024 journey. Alright, let's dive in!

Feed Your Brain (and Soul)

First up is making continuous learning a priority. You know how much I love hitting the books and expanding my mind. These days I'm trying to nurture that curiosity beyond just reading - I'll listen to interesting podcasts on my commute, watch the odd documentary that piques my interest, take an online course just for fun. Anything to keep myself engaged and growing. What's been so cool is that feeding my brain also seems to feed my soul. I feel energized and excited to take on each day.

Get to Know You

Another game-changer has been carving out solo time each week for self-reflection. Like really getting to know myself - my strengths, weaknesses, what lights me up, what stresses me out. Journaling has been huge for this. So has meditating (even if I'm not very zen haha) and deep conversations with people I trust. Turns out that understanding myself more fully is like unlocking all kinds of personal and professional potential. Who knew?!

Breathe (Literally and Figuratively)

We all know how crazy life can get. So I've made it a mission to find moments of stillness, whether that's 10 minutes of yoga in the morning or parking myself by the lake with a book on weekends. Anything for some calm. And you know what? I feel like I can take on the world after just a bit of breathing room. It's like hitting a reset button for the mind, body, and soul. Total game-changer.

Think Good Thoughts

Choosing optimism and gratitude has made such a difference in my outlook and experience. Like I always try to see the bright side now and give myself pep talks when things aren't great. And you know what? It attracts more good into my world - opportunities, people, experiences. Who would've thought being positive could be so powerful!

Express Yourself

Journaling has become one of my all-time favorite hobbies. Like I love putting pen to paper whether I'm unloading thoughts and feelings, brainstorming ideas, or just recounting my day. Bonus points for how therapeutic it is. And it's so cool to look back at entries and see myself growing over time. 10/10 would recommend it as a habit.

You Time

Making sure I fill my cup has been key this past year. Like it's so easy to lose yourself taking care of everyone else. Now I guard weekends for hobbies, and try to do one thing a day just for me, like meditation or a long bath with music. Turns out that putting energy back into myself makes me a better friend, family member, and all-round awesome human!

Nature Nourishment

Spending time outdoors has done wonders for my mental health and creativity. Something about being surrounded by trees puts me at total ease, you know? Even if it's just a walk around the neighborhood, I always feel recharged afterward. Bonus points if there's a cute park hang or hiking trail involved. The fresh air is like brain candy, I swear!

Learn It Up

Challenging my brain with new skills and info every day keeps things exciting! Lately, I've been trying out yoga classes, learning Spanish on the app, and teaching myself to cook healthier. It's like a little project to look forward to. Plus who doesn't love the pride of leveling up, am I right?!

Connect the Dots

Nurturing meaningful relationships where we uplift each other has been so fulfilling this past year. Like making sure I carve out quality time for friends, family, and good chats. Turns out we all need people, hey?! And supporting others' growth in turn supports my own. It's pretty cool.

At the end of the day, cultivating curiosity is what keeps me motivated to learn, step out of my comfort zone, and constantly evolve. I don't want to get complacent, you know? Always seeking new horizons and adventures fuels my zest for life.
