The yoga world looks undoubtedly different nowadays. With most studios still operating on a Zoom-only basis, global yogis are having to look for different ways to keep their practice engaging & inspiring. Luckily, modern tech can lend a helping hand.

If we’ve learned one thing from COVID life, though hopefully we’ve learned a lot, it’s that human beings are resilient and innovative. When we’re no longer able to enjoy our “normal” way of being, we’ll find ways to innovate. It’s no different for the yoga community. In the absence of brick and mortar studios, new yoga-based apps and virtual offerings are taking the practice out of the studio and into the wild.

One of the newest virtual yoga platforms, Let’s Sync, has coined the term wild yoga. True to its name, wild yoga invites practitioners to take their yoga practice to unimaginable heights - sometimes quite literally. The team describes themselves as “a band of dedicated digital nomads.” Their sole dharma, or purpose, is to wander the world introducing people to the joys of yoga and dance. They have no home office, no home base or a home country.

When you use Let’s Sync, you create your own yoga sequence piece by piece, borrowing from Let’s Sync team of teachers and their 100s of educational, guided clips. Select your desired difficulty level, music, start time and you’re good to go. From there, you can share your event with friends, students or whomever you like! They can join in your practice from their phones via the Let’s Sync app, from anywhere in the world.

You choose your destination. You can share your practice with friends in a public park, or take your practice to the wild side and try it out on a mountaintop. Let’s Sync lets you take your practice with you wherever you like. You can get started for free with creating your own event.

But far from just an opportunity to take a handstand practice to a picturesque cliff, wild yoga gives practicing yogis a chance to reconnect their practice with the majestic outdoors. Where newly normal #workfromhome life can leave you feeling shut-in and stir crazy, spending intentional time in nature could be the connection we’ve been looking for. And if you can gather some socially distanced friends to join in the fun? All the better.

Without a doubt, it’s a prolonged bummer that we aren’t able to practice in our favorite studios as easily as we once could. But as is its nature, our yoga practice teaches us to be flexible in every sense of the word. If you’ve been feeling your home practice slip under mounting modern anxieties, maybe a change of scenery could reignite that spark. Or maybe you just need to get out of the house, we certainly don’t blame ya.
