Subhealth refers to a state between health and disease. People in sub-health state, can not achieve the standard of health, performance for a certain period of time decreased vitality, functional and adaptive symptoms, but does not meet the modern medical disease related clinical or sub-clinical diagnostic criteria.

The detection rate of sub-health is different in different sex, age and occupation, and has nothing to do with place of birth and nationality. Generally, the detection rate of women is higher than that of men, 40-50 years old is higher than other age groups, teachers, civil servants.

The main causes of sub-health are unreasonable diet, lack of exercise, irregular work and rest, lack of sleep, mental tension, psychological pressure, long-term bad mood and so on.

The main characteristics of sub-health include:

① The symptoms reflected by the feeling of physical and mental inadaptability, such as fatigue, weakness, mood changes, etc., are difficult to be clear in a considerable period of time;

(2) various manifestations of weakness caused by age-incommensurate organizational structure or physiological function decline;

(3) micro-ecological imbalance;

(4) Pathological changes of some diseases before the disease.

There are various clinical manifestations, including fatigue and weakness, muscle and joint pain, dizziness and headache, palpitations and chest distress, sleep disorders, loss of appetite, abdominal discomfort, loose stools and constipation, decreased sexual function, fear of cold and heat, susceptibility to cold, dry eyes, etc. Psychological aspects can show low mood, upset, restless, irritable, fear and timidity, memory decline, attention can not concentrate, lack of energy, slow reaction, etc.; Social interaction can be manifested as unable to better assume the corresponding social role, work, learning difficulties, can not normally deal with interpersonal relations, family relations, difficult to carry out normal social interaction.

According to the clinical manifestations of sub-health state, it can be divided into the following categories:

(1) with fatigue, or sleep disorders, or pain and other physical symptoms;

(2) to depression, or restless, irritable, or fear of timidity, or short-term memory decline, attention can not concentrate and other mental and psychological symptoms;

(3) the decrease in interpersonal communication frequency, or interpersonal tension and other social adaptability.

If any one of the above three conditions continues for more than 3 months, and the diseases that may lead to the above symptoms are excluded by systematic examination, they can be judged as being in physical sub-health, psychological sub-health and social sub-health respectively. Clinically, the above three sub-health manifestations often appear together.

Some scholars believe that sub-health is the same as chronic fatigue syndrome abroad, which is the study of a group of somatic and psychological symptoms mainly characterized by chronic fatigue, but some scholars hold different opinions.

The United States is the first country to carry out studies on chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). In 1988, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officially named "chronic fatigue syndrome" and defined it. In 1994, the international Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Study Group (led by the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and other countries jointly composed of researchers) revised the diagnostic criteria of chronic fatigue syndrome. Chronic fatigue syndrome is defined as clinically assessed, unexplained, persistent or recurrent chronic fatigue lasting 6 months or longer. The fatigue is new or has a definite onset (not lifelong); Not the result of sustained exertion; No obvious relief after rest; Cause a marked decrease in work, study, social or personal activities.

Diagnostic criteria:

(1) by clinical evaluation can not explain, continuous or recurrent chronic fatigue, this kind of fatigue is new or clear the onset time of a congenital, is not caused by being engaged in labor, through rest not obvious, and the patient's professional ability and education ability, social skills and personal life is ill before a substantial decline;

(2) At least four of the following symptoms appear at the same time, not prior to fatigue symptoms, and are persistent or recurrent for at least 6 consecutive months: a significant decline in short-term memory or concentration; Sore throat. Swollen lymph nodes in the neck or armpit; Muscle pain; Pain in multiple joints, but no redness; Headache, but the type, mode and severity are different from the past; Inability to recover energy after sleep; Discomfort continues for more than 24 hours after exercise.
