Water... Nature's Gym

My Experience

By Sharon AndrewsPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

Water is the way to go on a bright sunny day or in the dark cold. Let its love calm your tongue. Its natural touch is like air to my throat bringing balance to heart and blood.

One day when life's complications got a hold of my muscles, I felt tired with a constant bang in the head (headache). Suddenly a saviour in the form of beautiful pureness in a cup takes the pain away at the end of the day. Water came to my rescue, not squash, not fizzy pop, just water.

My source of firm fitness. Between meals, during meals. My 6:00 AM alarm and my bed time song, my cup, wakes me up to a day of slimness, with belly so, so firm and sleek from consistent water peak. No need for sit ups, just drink. No need for slim pills, just drink.

With a weight of 57 kg consistent for six years, my water is my friend. It is recommended that two litres of water a day could keep the doctors away. This is proven and tested by over half a decade without any medication of any sort. It is safe to say that water is in its own right a medicine so start early and continue with each glass of pure water. Do not compromise—not just fluids but water.

Okay, look at the more serious side of things

Water maintains the balance of body fluids. The body is composed of about 60% water. The functions of these bodily fluids include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature. When we keep the water supply coming, a healthy lifestyle is assured.

Drinking plenty of water is a simple way to reduce the risk of developing a Urinary Tract Infection and to help treat an existing UTI. Not drinking enough water could cause kidney stones which interfere with how the kidneys work. In addition, dehydration happens if we use and lose more water than the body takes in and this can lead to an imbalance in the body's electrolytes.

When is best to drink water?

One habit that is needful to cultivate is the consistent and daily drinking of water. However, there are times when this is most needful. These are:

  1. When you have a fever
  2. When the weather is hot
  3. If you have diarrhea and vomiting
  4. When you sweat a lot, for example, due to physical activity.

In summary:

What I call the "super 15" are the various functions of water in the body.

  1. It flushes body waste.
  2. It delivers oxygen throughout the body.
  3. Weight loss
  4. It boosts skin health and beauty.
  5. It cushions the brain, spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues.
  6. It regulates body temperature.
  7. The digestive system depends on it.
  8. It lubricates the joints.
  9. It helps maintain blood pressure.
  10. The airways need it.
  11. It makes minerals and nutrients accessible.
  12. It prevents kidney damage.
  13. It boosts performance during exercise.
  14. It forms saliva and mucus.
  15. It reduces the chance of a hangover.

How much water should I drink?

You are constantly losing water from your body, primarily via urine and sweat. To prevent dehydration, you need to drink adequate amounts of water. There are different opinions on how much water you should be drinking every day.

Health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 litres or half a gallon. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember.

However, some health gurus believe that you need to sip on water constantly throughout the day, even when you’re not thirsty.
