Being healthy and happy is more than eating your vegetables, although that is important too! Maintaining your health and happiness is about the balance of the Six Dimensions of Wellness. All of the dimension are equal to each other; no single dimension is more important than another.

The Six Dimensions of Wellness

  • Environmental Wellness
  • Spiritual Wellness
  • Emotional Wellness
  • Intellectual Wellness
  • Interpersonal Wellness
  • Physical Wellness

Environmental Wellness

At first I thought environmental wellness was just about cleaning your room, but it turns out that it is also so much more than that. Maintaining your own personal wellness also includes considering things like your carbon footprint.

Spiritual Wellness

Don't worry, if you aren't religious than there are plenty of other ways to practice your spiritual wellness.

Intellectual Wellness

Intellectual Wellness is about constantly thriving to learn more. It is more important than you might think. Successfully achieving Intellectual Wellness can bring a sense fulfillment into your life.

Physical Wellness

Physical wellness isn't just eating healthy, drinking water, and going for a run, although those are all very important parts physical wellness. Physical wellness also includes things like brushing your teeth and washing your face.

Interpersonal Wellness

In a nut shell, Interpersonal Wellness is social wellness. Humans are naturally social creatures and we NEED to socialize and it NEEDS to be healthy socialization.

Emotional Wellness

You might think that you have emotional wellness all figured out, but you also might want to think again. I know I was surprised by how complicated it can be.

The Balance in Wellness

Taking care of yourself isn't JUST eating healthy. In order to achieve a full and healthy life you need to consider all six of the aspects of wellness: Environmental, Spiritual, Emotional, Intellectual, Interpersonal and Physical. A great way to start taking care of yourself is to practice healthy stress management techniques.

  • Bubble baths
  • Journaling
  • Nature walks
  • Exercising
  • Guided Imagery
  • Talking to loved ones
  • Practicing yoga
  • Playing an instrument
  • Listening to music
  • Reading a good book
  • Engaging in crafts

About the Author

I started blogging about two years ago and my collection of blogs and articles is getting pretty impressive. I’ve taken online classes for writing and even some classes about the art of blogging itself. It would be really awesome if you join the adventure and maybe even help me think of what to write about next. If you would like to submit some feedback or ideas, you can always tweet me on Twitter.

Thank you for reading my article. Would it be okay if I ask another favour though? Would it be okay if you share this on your Facebook page or Twitter? If you can't share, there is a tiny little donate box at the bottom too. No pressure though, just thought I would mention it.
