Tarot reading for February 2, 2023

As I grow and learn as a tarot reader, I’m starting to see the same cards coming up. And that leads me to believe that our world doesn’t change very quickly. It shows me that what we were dealing with yesterday is similar to what we were dealing with today. That change takes time. Shifting our experience doesn’t happen overnight. It takes work and energy to make a change. Whatever that change is. And then the universe has to respond to our change. So when we recognize that things have to change and we do change, we find it frustrating that the world still treats us as if we’re in our old paradigm. We often have to fight back and do more to show that we are changing and working on it. And then the universe changes with us. But it takes time.

Today’s reading is a clear example of just that idea. I meditated on the date. February 2, 2023. I thought of nothing else but these numbers, this idea as I shuffled the cards as I always do. The three cards that revealed themselves to me are the Hanged Man, the 8 of cups, and the Queen of Swords.

Our situation card, The Hanged Man, came up yesterday as well. This card continues to show us that our situation hasn’t changed since yesterday. Things are still up in the air. We still need to look at things from a different perspective. Maybe e there are things we need to let go of. This card is about changing perspective, letting go, about self-sacrifice. Also, it’s about preparing for change. Preparing for things that are coming. And there will come a time when we’ll have to come down from this place and do something. But maybe that time isn’t right now. We still need to gather our thoughts and our energies and prepare for what’s coming.

Our next card, the 8 of cups, shows a man walking along a stream. There are rocks and a jagged landscape. The full moon is guiding him. And there are 8 cups in the foreground. A lot is going on in this card. The moon is a symbol of feminine energy, intuition, and nurturing. But the moon doesn’t give us a lot of light. Perhaps it’s just enough to see but there’s a need to rely on ourselves to look as well. This card often speaks of looking within and doing some soul-searching. It’s also a card of retreat or isolation. But it’s self-imposed to understand more about what’s going on. To dig deep and search for the answers that we’re looking for to understand our life. In essence, this card is telling us that there will need to be more thinking, and more searching. It asks us to dig deep into ourselves and that our search is not over. Not yet.

Our last card, the takeaway card is the Queen of swords. This one is a new card for me. It’s never come up in reading before. The other two have come up a few times for me. The queen of swords shows a woman seated on a throne. She carries a sword in her right hand and her left hand is up as if she is saying something or requesting you to come to her. There is a great big blue sky behind with some clouds, the landscape behind her is tiny. It feels as if she dominates the card. She’s an impressive figure. I get the sense that she takes no B.S. She’d take your head off with her sword if you looked at her the wrong way.

Taking these cards together, the cards are saying that this is a tough time right now. It’s a time of change. A time of need to look at things differently. To take stock of what’s going on. Maybe time to let go of some things in our lives that no longer serve us. It’s not easy to be in this kind of a place but there’s a shift coming. And it will come but it’s going to take some time and some work to manifest this change and then to accept it once things do start to shift. This is not an easy reading to give. But there is good news on the horizon here. Things are changing. But change takes time. And we must be patient, and we must persevere at the same time. Hold fast but remain hopeful. It will get better. It just takes time.
