Three-card reading for today

I hope that you’re having a great Saturday wherever you are in the world. We’ll jump right into the reading…

I’m doing my usual three-card spread. The situation card reflects information about the day today. Our advice or action card gives some ideas on what we might do or how we might be able to handle the events of today. And our last card, the takeaway, is something to consider as we go about our day. If you meditate this might be something to ponder as you meditate. Sometimes it’s connected to the other cards. Sometimes, it isn’t.

Our first card today is The Hanged Man. This card is an interesting one. It features a man hanging upside down by one leg. His right leg is crossed behind his left, and his arms are crossed behind his back. He has a very peaceful look on his face. I don’t think he’s there by force. I think he’s there because he wants to be. He hangs from a T-shaped tree. And I call it a tree because of the leaves hanging off either side of the two branches. It’s an odd-shaped tree, but I would call it a tree instead of a cross.

The Hanged Man symbolizes self-sacrifice. Volunteering to do something can be a form of self-sacrifice. We agree to give up our day to do something for others or help someone who might need help today. Perhaps you have a honey-do list with things that need to e done around the house or kids that need to go to soccer, football, or baseball. Or maybe your kids take music lessons or dance. Whatever it is, there’s something you’re doing today that is in service to others.

Our advice card is the Three of Pentacles. This card features a man standing on a bench. He has one hand on the wall and holds something in his other hand. I’m unsure what he’s holding; it could be a tool. The other two people in the card, A male figure, are dressed in a dark robe while the other, a female figure, is dressed in an orange-ish robe. These two are holding a document that looks like a blueprint or a drawing. The three pentacles are carved into the building they’re in.

As our advice card, the Three of Pentacles speaks to us of teamwork or collaboration. This card tells me you won’t have to do this alone today. You’ll have help in your service to someone else today. While you’ll volunteer your time and energy to something, you won’t be alone, and others will appreciate your actions. Give it all you have, and be the best at whatever you do today.

Our takeaway card today is The Emperor. He’s like a father figure. Not a divine father but more like an earthly father. Like a parent. He can also represent an authority figure in our society. One that sets the rules and enforces them. He is a good leader. Well respected. He sits on his throne adorned with Ram’s heads. A symbol of strength. Under his red robe, you can see a hint of armor. He is ready to stand up for whatever needs to be stood for today. He’s got your back if you need it. He reminds me of a good father. Someone who is there for you when you need them but will kick you in the butt when needed. He’ll teach you everything you need to know to navigate this life. But this card is telling us to be more like him today. As we go about our day, be honest and kind—firm but also compassionate. Be a good leader for those you come into contact with today. Perhaps this card reflects our fathers or the father we never had. Or it could be about ourselves and how we might need to be today. Spend some time thinking about this card today and see where these thoughts take you.
