A daily three-card reading

Well, here we are at the beginning of a new month. I continue to read and learn and grow in this. I wanted to share a book I read recently that I loved. The book is called Kitchen Table Tarot by Melissa Cynova. It’s an excellent read if you’re wanting to learn to read tarot cards.

I loved her style and the way she presents each card it’s just fantastic. Check it out if you’re looking to learn or if you just want a good read about tarot cards.

Today’s reading is a three-card reading. And I shuffled as I always do. Starting with a meditation on the date. Clearing my mind of all other things except the date.

Our first card that fell out of the deck is The Hanged Man. This is our situation card. The hanged man may seem like a strange card because he’s hanging upside down on one foot. He has a yellow light emanating from his head which speaks to wisdom. His arms are crossed behind his back and one leg is crossed behind the one he’s hanging from. This card is also about self-sacrifice. There’s an idea that he might be able to get himself down. I’m not sure if his arms being crossed behind his back is because he’s bound that way, or if he just has his hands behind his back. He looks pretty comfortable actually. He seems far too calm for someone who is being wronged. I think he’s there because he put himself there. What I see in this card is that something has changed. Our perspective has shifted a little. We’re seeing things differently. And we’ve put ourselves in this spot. Maybe we’re waiting for something. I heard a song the other day with the line “waiting for the world to change”. And I feel like this card is saying just that.

Our next card is the 4 of cups. Which came up yesterday. Now when that happens it usually means that this card has more wisdom to give us. Yesterday it was the situation card. Today it’s the second card in our spread. For me, that’s either a commentary on the first card. Adding a little more to the story, or it’s something we can do about our situation. In this card, a man sits under a tree resting and waiting. There are three cups on the ground which to me signifies that he’s emotionally depleted. He has nothing more to give. To his right is a cloud handing him another cup. It’s also empty. But I feel like it’s the universe giving him a gift of some kind. As it did yesterday, this card is reminding us to rest and be patient. But now that it’s in a different spot so it has a feeling of a shift as well. And that shift is very real but we must wait for the universe to catch up with us. Sometimes we can change faster than the universe can. We must hold fast as we are. Hold the vision as the famous saying goes.

And our last card in the spread, our takeaway card is the 9 of cups. This guy looks very content. He’s sitting on his bench. Surrounded by his collection of cups. I don’t feel like he’s gloating or boasting. But merely content and satisfied. This card is about abundance, about dreams being fulfilled and that’s the feeling I get from this card. There’s a sense that our new perspective will allow us to alter our path from where it is now. That we can shift our reality to be what we want it to be. We can manifest great things in this life. We can have the life we want, we can have the wealth we want, and we can be anything we want. However, we must be patient and wait for it. The universe will provide us with all that we’re looking for. But we have to be patient. If we do, we will achieve all that we wish.
