Suprbowl Sunday!

By Jason Almirez-TaglianettiPublished about a year ago 3 min read

Sundays have always been my favorite day. They’ve always been a day to rest and relax. But also to spend some time enjoying life. And the cards I pulled today reflect that.

Our situation card for today is the Six of Cups. The card features two young children in a town square or a market area. A boy is holding a cup with a flowering plant while a young girl looks at him intently. There are five more cups with the same plant and flower. The flower looks like a white five-pointed star. When this card comes up, I often wonder who these children are. Are they siblings? Friends? I often feel like the girl has given this flower to the boy. Or it could be that he’s at a market and has purchased the flower for his younger sister. He may be giving her the flower, or she might be giving it to him.

The cups symbolize emotions. And here we have 6 of them, each with a flower. The flower represents something that has been grown or growing. Something nurtured. And now, it’s time to enjoy the thing you’ve grown. Something you’ve worked on. This card is the epitome of “stop and smell the roses.” It reminds us to be aware and to notice what’s around us. It’s a very happy card simply telling us today is a day to enjoy. To enjoy our day and all that we do with it.

Our advice card, the Page of Swords, offers more for us. The Page stands on a slight rise holding a sword loosely with both hands. She turns away to the right while her head turns to the left. It feels like she is in the process of starting to walk away, perhaps. But she’s still noticing something to her left. The way she’s arranged in this spread, it appears she is looking at the kids in the 6 of Cups card. And maybe she is. Perhaps she sees these two. This card feels to me almost like The Fool, in a way. There is a feeling of playfulness in her. Something light and free. But with a little more purpose to her. There are white puffy clouds in the sky. So it’s not clear, but the clouds there are the kind that doesn’t cause a lot of trouble.

This card speaks of noticing and watching. Again, amplifying the 6 cups is all about notching what’s around us. But while the 6 of cups is a card about innocence, the Page of swords is more cautious. She’s overseeing something, sword in hand, just in case anything should happen. She tells us to be on the careful side today.

Our takeaway card is The Chariot. It depicts a man standing in a chariot, ready to go on an adventure. He dressed in his best armor. He holds a scepter in his right hand and looks confident and strong. He’s ready. The chariot’s roof is covered in stars, and a big lead is on the driver’s crown. And there are two animals that I assume will be pulling the chariot along. The one thing that most people notice about this card is that there are no reins. This symbolizes that our driver is in complete control of this vehicle. That he knows how to drive it, he’s mastered it thoroughly. This card is all about confidence. And in this position in our spread, he’s telling us to have faith today.

As we go about our day today, remember to stop and smell the roses. If you’re out shopping and see someone giving out samples, take the time to stop and enjoy a little. Make conversation with someone. If you’re running around eh park with the family, stop and take notice of the smiles and the laughter today. The most important part is to note the day’s little details. And to enjoy it in confidence and strength. And if you’re watching the game today, enjoy that as well. Take notice of the joy that today brings you.
