Reading for 2-15 thru 2-21-21

Each week when I do these readings I set up my reading space with black fabric, (for the photo, mostly but it also allows for and smooth, calm space to focus on the cards) make sure I have undisturbed quiet time; dogs are out, husband is at work/play/store/whatever, phone is off, etc… I begin with a quick grounding meditation and settle into a centered peace to ask for guidance in choosing the cards which will be most appropriate for the week ahead. I shuffle the cards with my intent in mind and spread them in a dealer’s “ribbon spread”. Then with eyes closed, I ask for the Center card, the West card and finally, the East card, reaching out to the spread, touching the cards and choosing the one that feels most fully under my finger tip, then sliding them into their positions. Before opening my eyes I return to a calm, centered state and do my best to sense whether the three cards I’ve chosen are the most fitting for the highest and best for all involved. Only then do I turn them face up and photograph them for the reading. There are times when I see the three cards before me and groan or breathe a sigh of relief but I always use the cards I’ve selected ”blindly”.

That said;

The Center card this week is the Hermit.

One of the Major Arcana, this card tips us off the likelihood of a phase or time of life when a lesson is in the works. Often seen as a card of loneliness, asceticism, and/or sacrifice, in my opinion, the energy of the Hermit is less about sacrifice and more about release. When we face up to the challenges and obstacles we meet along our paths to resolve, heal and learn we find comfort in ourselves and in solitude. We settle into an inner peace. We no longer fear a lack of support or assistance. We’ve done the work ourselves and come to conclusions or to acceptance of the truth as it pertains to us. With the realization that solutions which, at first seemed difficult if not insurmountable, we come to a sense of grace. As we stand in that light of inner peace, sustained in the knowledge that we no longer face an unbeatable foe we see the light that is our success revealing and unmasking what was in the shadows of uncertainty, fear and self consciousness. Within that sense of peace we can take up the lantern of wisdom and shine it outward to light the way for others.

The West card is the Queen of Swords.

A nurturing teacher of intellectual clarity and communication, this queen is able to use the empathy born of experience to clarify muddied, confused or tangled situations. She can bring a soft voice of reason to glaringly dissimilar ideas and intentions. She’s able to define what she feels whether dealing with her creative will, her emotions or her needs, and communicate it in such a way that it’s understood. Coupled with the Hermit she brings a worldly sensibility to larger emotional or creative situations we may find ourselves in that argue with practicality or tradition. In essence, she’s the pragmatic voice of reason with which you can explain to others a clear, if very different, path forward.

The East card is the Emperor.

Another Major Arcana card, the Emperor is the quintessential father/king/authority archetype. What this tells me is that we’re likely to find ourselves in a position to set down boundaries and rules and see to it that they’re taken seriously. We’ve seen the Hermit’s light of inner wisdom, found our voice along with the patience to communicate from the heart with the airy Queen of Swords energy and now it’s time to take the stage and make a statement. The interesting juxtaposition here is the strength and authority of the Emperor blended with true inner wisdom and the ability to communicate with enough sensitivity that the message is heard. And even if the message is one that some don’t want to hear, there is a compassion and understanding behind our intent that allows that message to be heard and understood.

In Conclusion;

This week we have an opportunity (or perhaps a need) to take a stand. Having looked within, given deep thought and an honest assessment of the changes and options around us, we come to conclusions based on what we know is right and appropriate. This higher-mind perception allows us to see clearly what we choose to take on, to speak about it with precision and grace and to stand strong in our decisions. Because we have the Hermit as the central figure, some of the pitfalls found with the sharp and perhaps insensitive communication style of the Swords and the easily overbearing Emperor can be avoided. With the light of inner knowing and its natural alignment with Universe/Source/Spirit/God we’re able to step away from masks of perceived influence or power plays that seek to overwhelm instead of combine ideas and talents. We have seen the light, and with our clarity and a sense of strength and determination we can take that stand with gratification, honor and integrity.

Have a decisive week!
