Nature's Harmonies for Cold Remedies

It's that time of the year again! Flu and cold season, where the sick days add up like the tissues on your nightstand. Some may wonder what more to do about it other than get flu shots, granted that they even work. Get some NyQuil and call it a night while it's still light outside? Or desperately drink Emergen-C before work and drag along at work on Sudafed wondering, isn't there a better way? Like many things, there is!

Building and keeping a stronger immune system in the winter time is essential. Although, it is nice to be able to take some sick days off at work and watch Netflix in bed with the pets; we would all be better off getting through the season without having to drag yourself out of bed feeling any worse than we have to. As if the getting out of the nice, warm bed into the cold to have to deal with the snow on your vehicles isn't bad enough, why accept the cold and the flu with it? Some of the most essentials to bring along with you are nutritional supplements and natural remedies. The must have "bring-alongs" to take with you in your pocket, bag, or mug in the winter time. These essentials are more convenient and cheaper than you'd think!

As the majority of people already know, vitamin C and a lot of water is necessary in the winter time. Whether you have the time during the week or on the weekend to make sure you have it, it is important! Sometimes the best way to keep it handy is with purse-sized Airborne from your local drug store, or extra oranges for your work lunch. The most convenient way is stocking up on some vitamin C tabs to stash in your pocket throughout the day. Get some here now!

Eating garlic cloves is proven to help fight off bacteria that your body is fighting to help you get better, but also build your immune system as a means of the prevention of getting sick in the first place. Not only does raw garlic help you fight off cold and flu germs, but it is a great source of other nutrients. Allicin, the ingredient in garlic known to help you recover or prevent the horrible feeling of the flu and common cold symptoms, is a natural antibiotic. It helps fight off your flu and cold germs and is found at your local grocery store. It has been proven to help you before, during, and whilst the recovery of struggling from your cold or flu symptoms.

Honey is a fantastic natural antibiotic that's good for your immune system. Not only does it soothe a sore throat with lemon for a delicious warm honey lemon tea, but taken by the spoonfuls with cinnamon can help fight off your cold germs for a better recovery. Combined with cinnamon and water, it creates the perfect elixir for cold recovery, and clearing up, not only your sinuses, but your symptoms caused by it, such as a runny nose and watery eyes.

Another great remedy for the cold season is fresh ginger eaten alone or made into a warm ginger tea. Rhinoviruses, which are the viruses that colds are made up of in the first place, die off with the consumption of ginger and ginger tea. Also known for it's anti-inflammatory properties, ginger is great for soothing a sore throat and helping it heal at the same time. If you are sick with the flu, the digestion of ginger will also help soothe the harshness of the nausea that comes along with it.

Last, but not least, there is echinacea . It is most commonly used to make tea, but it also used in other forms. As echinacea is taken, it strengthens the immune system and fights off your common cold. It is known to help your body create more white cells, which in return helps fight off the infection of your colds, helping you to feel better, or avoid the symptoms of a cold virus entirely. Some, but few, people complain about having the side affects of stomachaches or allergic reactions to the herb. Also known as "throat coat," this herbal tea is good for soothing a sore throat.

There you have it, some of the healthy and natural ways to fight off and keep away those winter colds and flus. Not only are they effective, but they are cost-efficient! Using these simple, easy, cheap remedies will benefit you and your health every year. Not only are they better for you, but they're cheaper than your over the counter NyQuil and DayQuil. Using these repeatedly over time will not only not work as good each time, leaving the use of them ineffective, but, unlike these natural remedies, are of no benefit to your health or well being.

Although using OTC products from time-to-time is inevitable, the natural way is the best and most effective non-addictive non-life threatening way to go. Natural remedies contain no habit forming chemicals that are prone to be misused or abused, such as Sudafed, Benadryl, and Robitussin. They also don't leave you to feel drowsy or out of your element, but have the opposite affect.

"Abusing OTC drugs can lead to health problems, including memory loss, kidney failure, heart problems, and death"
