If you have recently had a hip injury, or if you have undergone surgery, then you definitely need to implement these five easy hip exercises. Using exercise as part of your healing process allows for better results while your body is repairing itself. You can take away extra stress and pressure the more you incorporate daily therapeutic exercises.

Swimming

Swimming is a great low impact form of exercise, which is especially important for people who recently had surgery or a stem cell treatment for hips. Anyone could easily benefit from doing laps in the pool, water aerobics, or simply running in place. This form of exercise will not only help your body heal faster, but it is known to lessen depression, lower the risk of heart disease, and help you relax. You will see results in no time, and your hips will thank you for it. Doing the breaststroke (swimming like a frog) will be the most beneficial for your hips, as this technique forces your hips to rotate in multiple directions.

If you do not have access to a swimming pool, then there are still quite a few exercises you can do in the gym, or in your own home. Not every exercise requires a machine, so really there is no excuse to neglect the care of your hips. Taking a walk daily is a great way to help strengthen your hips, and keep you mobile.

Biking

If you have a bicycle, then you should go for a ride. However, if you do not have the time to venture off, you can easily replicate the same motion in your home. For added strengthening benefits you can opt to use a resistance band. These are easily found in every store that sells workout equipment. To do this exercise you must secure your band to something sturdy. Place the band around your ankle and make the motion of pedaling your bike. If you do not have a resistance band, then all you need to do is steady yourself, and do the same motion. You will feel the effects, however they will be achieved at a slower pace. Do not worry if you are not ready to use resistance bands. Simply focus on doing your exercise daily, and you will strengthen your way to better hips.

Glute Exercises

Believe it or not, a great way to strengthen your hips is to tighten and relax your glutes. You can achieve this by doing squats, leg lifts, and pelvic thrusts, or simply by laying down flat, and tightening then releasing the muscles over and over. If you are recovering from injury or surgery, then these would best be done with body weight. Adding extra weight would likely put too much stress on the muscles, too early in the healing process. As you get comfortable with these exercises, and they become easier, then you could start to add weight little by little.

Get A Workout Buddy

If you find you are in a rut, and have a hard time sticking to a workout plan, then you should consider pairing up with someone who is reliable. This will help ensure you achieve your workout goals, stay motivated, and take a break when necessary. There is no need to avoid strengthening your hips when there are so many easy and beneficial exercises to help you feel better.

Just remember healing and strengthening your hips will take time. Do not over do it, nor get frustrated and give up. As long as you keep your hips moving, add resistance when possible, and take a break when needed, you are on your way to a life full of mobility.
