If you are one of the millions of persons experiencing symptoms of estrogen imbalance or estrogen dominance, you may have heard about the benefits of DIM estrogen blocker and wonder if the dietary supplement could help treat your medical issues.

If you are searching for a super antioxidant that helps prevent cancer and a host of other chronic diseases, Diindolmethane (DIM estrogen blocker) may be the supplement for you. DIM is both a phytonutrient and a powerful antioxidant.

What is DIM?

The DIM molecule is named after its structure; two indole groups joined to a methane group. Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a component of Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) found in members of the Brassica family of cruciferous vegetables that includes garlic, onions, radishes, cabbage, kale, cauliflower, watercress, turnips, mustard greens, collard greens, rutabagas and broccoli that helps to balance estrogen metabolism and holds promise as being a molecule for anti-cancer effects and as an aromatase inhibitor.

It is always a great idea to add more cruciferous vegetables to our diets. In addition to providing a natural source of dim, they are a rich source of fiber as well as essential nutrients. However, in truth, to see a significant change in estrogen levels, you would have to consume them by the pound. This isn’t feasible, and that is why DIM estrogen blocker supplements are generally recommended.

DIM has a strong effect on estrogen metabolism and works to keep the body relatively balanced by preventing either significant increases or dramatic decreases in estrogen levels. Dim can both inhibit the aromatase enzyme and thus prevent the conversion of testosterone in estrogen, or it can act on more powerful forms of estrogen and convert them to a less potent form.

Multiple research studies demonstrate that DIM helps increase a specific aerobic metabolism, multiplying the opportunity for estrogen to be broken down into beneficial (useful) estrogen metabolites. Research results found that many of the important benefits credited to estrogen, including the ability to protect the brain and heart from antioxidant activity, are the result of the activity of these “good” metabolites, rather than the more aggressive forms of estrogen known as estradiol. Estradiol is the culprit that can be problematic for both men and women with elevated estradiol levels contributing to weight gain, loss of libido, and a host of other health issues.

What Causes Hormonal Imbalances and Estrogen Dominance?

Estrogen mimicking chemicals, known as xenoestrogens, pollute the air we breathe, the foods we eat and the water we drink. Many foods contain pesticides, herbicides, or growth hormones. Air pollution, chemical contamination of our water supplies and plastic bottles, pharmaceuticals, detergents, and household cleaning supplies are all sources of xenoesrogens. Women who take birth control medications or are on hormone replacement therapy may also experience hormone imbalances. Still, other factors such as stress, obesity, and candida albicans also contribute to estrogen dominance.

Symptoms Of Estrogen Imbalance

Estrogen is an integral part of our hormonal system. Our endocrine system continually works to try to establish homeostasis or optimum balance. Unfortunately, when estrogen levels are high, the endocrine system responds to a signal that balance is already established, preventing further production of several vital hormones, especially testosterone. However, an imbalance affects other hormones that are precursors to estrogen and testosterone such as progesterone, androstenedione, and DHEA.

Several different medical weight-loss clinical trials note that it is typical for most people to gain one to two pounds in the abdomen area every year between the ages of 35 to 55; this weight gain is without a change in diet or exercise. Scientists further noted that these are the years when testosterone production plummets in men and progesterone levels start to decline in females. Fat accumulation around the mid-section of the torso is symptomatic of an undetected hormonal imbalance and may indicate that dim estrogen blocker is appropriate therapy. If you suspect you have an imbalance, your healthcare provider can test your estrogen levels and work with you to access your health and physical fitness goals and suggest diet modifications and a dosage of DIM that is right for you.

A typical symptom of estrogen imbalance in both men and women is weight gain around the mid-section, commonly referred to as belly fat. In women, estrogen imbalances are associated with perimenopause, premenstrual syndrome, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), weight gain, chronic fatigue syndrome, osteoporosis, anxiety and panic attacks, hormonal headaches, infertility, breast, uterine, and cervical cancer. In men, high estrogen levels increase the risk of prostate problems, short stature, fatigue, hair loss, especially male pattern baldness, loss of libido, erectile dysfunction, enlarged prostate glands, early heart attacks, male breast cancer, and gynecomastia (enlarged breasts).

Because many of these symptoms may manifest from other conditions and deficiencies, to obtain a definitive diagnosis of the presence of estrogen dominance, a full hormone profile test done by a medical professional is in order.
