Tips to limit your trips to the fridge during quarantine!

For some people the “COVID 15” is becoming a real possibility, that’s why I put together my list of tips and tricks below.

Stay on schedule!

-Ok, I get it, when you have no responsibilities you can sleep in till whenever you want, shower when you feel like it and live in the same pair of sweats for days on end. No! Please change your clothes and rejuvenate yourself, I swear you need a shower, you'll thank me later! It’s best to keep yourself on the same schedule as you would for school or work, this is much less stressful with your body and will keep your circadian rhythm in check.

-Keep scheduled meals times to limit mindless grazing. Eat at the table, not in front of your TV or computer, give your food the time and attention it deserves. Everyone is different but, a good rule to follow is to eat scheduled meals every 3-4 hrs to prevent getting excessively hungry and also to prevent excessive snacking.

Get moving!

-Go for walks in your area staying a safe distance from other

-Try YouTube workouts such as:

  • The Fitness Marshall (dance workouts)
  • Zumba workouts
  • 8 min abs
  • Pilates workouts
  • Barre workouts
  • Hasfit weight training workouts
  • Yoga workouts (these are a great choice as they help relieve stress during this trying time and gives you a goal to hit some of those more challenging poses! )
  • Walk away the pounds (walk 2 miles in just 30min!)

-The YMCA is offering at home workouts to keep you safe and healthy! Check out YMCA 360 virtual workouts!

-If you have children make it a party! Dance, sing, tickle and play tag!

-They even offer inexpensive small pedal bikes you can use for your arms and legs on Amazon! (Put that online shopping addiction to good use!)

-Clean the house top to bottom, this is great exercise, yes even get those impossible to reach spots such as behind the toilet!

-Do that yard work you’ve been so desperately been wanting to do but haven’t had the time, well now you do, no excuses!

Have fun with food!

-Think of your favorite foods, possibly even foods from your favorite restaurant, google the recipe online and put a healthy spin on it! You love cheesecake? I bet you can find a low calorie, protein packed option right online *cough cough*, or perhaps a lower calorie Big Mac recipe (guess the “special sauce” isn’t so special anymore!).

-Make it a family affair, get the little ones involved! Teach them where their food comes from and to be grateful for the work that goes into creating it by creating classic staples together such as pasta , bread and other classic dishes!

Enjoy each other's company, we often don’t realize what a blessing it is to have time with those dear to us.

-Play Cards, a board game, or finish a puzzle! This is great family bonding and good brain stimulation.

-Just because you don’t live with your friends doesn’t mean you can’t still party! Have a dance party with your favorite music and friends over a zoom call. Who said the party had to stop just because we are quarantined? Fridays can still be, get dressed up and “go out” night!

-Blanket forts are always cool no matter how old your are!

-Family movie night? Why not, make it special, prepare some easy healthy snacks *wink wink* to go with it!

Remember guys, just because our lives have changed unfathomably doesn’t mean our goals should! If you’re driven, then this quarantine may have changed the way you do things but it shouldn’t be stopping you from meeting your goals! You want it? Go get it! A+B=C, that’s the mindset of the most successful people, you imagine it and you put in the work to reach it. I’m rooting for you!
