Although it may seem strange, putting cod liver oil in your belly button is thought to provide a number of possible advantages. Although there isn't much scientific proof to back up this practice, some people say it has the following benefits:

1. Better Skin Health: It might encourage less acne and clearer skin.

2. Pain Relief: It is claimed that applying a belly button can ease back pain and menstrual cramps.

3. Better Sleep: A few people claim to have had better sleep.

4. Balanced Hormones: It could be beneficial for hormone balance, particularly in women.

5. Strengthened Immunity: It is believed to increase the robustness of the immune system.

6. Quicker Healing: Promotes quicker scar healing and wound healing.

7. Improved Digestion: May facilitate digestion and lessen pain in the gastrointestinal tract.

8. Hair Growth: Said to promote hair development and lessen hair loss.

9. Stress Reduction: Encourages rest and lessens worry and tension.

10. General Well-Being: Advocates report feeling more energized and generally in good health.

Putting essential oil in your belly button is called Pechoti.

What is the "method of Pechoti"?

According to WebMD, an online publisher of health care information, the practice of putting oil in your navel is regarded as a component of Ayurveda, a historic Indian treatment system based on the idea that health and wellness depend on a balance between the mind, body, and spirit.

Ayurvedic treatment is now supported by "extremely poor" scientific evidence, according to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, a branch of the U.S. National Library of treatment and National Institutes of Health, despite a plethora of anecdotal stories. To conclude how safe and successful Ayurvedic methods are, more research is required.

More: Fact check: More research is required to determine the potential health benefits of combining honey and cinnamon.

Because the Pechoti gland is said to be located beneath the navel, the Facebook post refers to the procedure of applying oil to the navel as the Pechoti Method. Nevertheless, there isn't any scientific proof that this gland exists.

The article also states that "the total amount of blood vessels we have in our body is equal to double the circumference of the earth" and that "all of the body's veins are connected to the navel, making it the focal point of our body."

What precisely is the navel?

The tissue that remains after the umbilical cord separates after birth is scar tissue that forms the navel. Three vessels make up the umbilical cord: two arteries and one vein. During pregnancy, the cord carries nutrition and oxygen from the mother to the unborn child. The vessels shut once the umbilical chord is severed.

The National Center for Biotechnology Information states that a ligament attached to the liver persists after the umbilical vein degenerates, but its function is to split the liver into two pieces.

Further: The reason you should be aware of Ayurveda, the newest trend in wellbeing

David Harder, a clinical herbalist, once stated that the belly button is a sealed opening. When the umbilical chord is broken immediately after birth, you have open tissue. However, when the belly button matures, it doesn't seem all that different from applying oils to the elbow, the back of the knee, the forearm, or any other similar area. There is no benefit, in my opinion, to using an essential oil there.

Although these advantages are anecdotal and may differ for each individual, cod liver oil's high nutritional content undoubtedly supports any prospective advantages. Prior to attempting any unorthodox wellness techniques, it is always best to consult with a healthcare expert.

Whether you choose to use the non-conventional belly button method or take supplements, adding cod liver oil to your daily regimen can be a smart move for your health. The secret is to stay consistent, so begin enjoying the rewards right away!
