Astrology Crash Course Ch. 5

Everyone knows about the whole Mars vs. Venus dynamic, but I don't believe we really dive into what it means to observe that aspect of those planets and what they do to us within... And I mean energetically, not necessarily to gender, as we notoriously note in connection.

As a note, male and masculine are two different manifestations or entities, just like female and feminine are different. Male and Female refer to how the body is defined and is, for lack of a better term, the gender binary, while masculine and feminine are energies that the soul take on or possess, which is why there are masculine women and feminine men.

The Masculine Energy of Mars, with its up-thrusting arrow, is symbolic of new power that loves to investigate things and make things happen.

Mars is the God of war.

Its courage and brutality gives us the reasoning abilities of a two-year-old, but also has an elegant urgency. Mars can be an idealist, willing to stand tall and fight for what is right, but at times still cower in his little hideaway. All these and more are ways that mars can affect you.

Mars is most definitely for the adventurous side of you, because the energy of mars, in its best form is more about style that brute force.

To best harness its energy, we have to train it.

This planet's energy loves pure adventure and the chase, but we also have to focus on the passion and aggressive desires that some with this masculine energy. Steer it, if you will, to direct yourself to where you want to be in life.

This is where the feminine energy comes in, to balance.

If we first tap into the Venus energy, which shows us our passions before tapping into the mars energy, which drives us towards our passion, we can learn to be more focused, grounded and confident in who we are and what we want.

By building a strong, healthy Mars in your chart, we'll be more individual as people through our more confident and effective actions.

As I've already sort of mentioned, Mars in our birth chart affects the way we act, whether we address problems, issues and challenges or avoid them, or as I like to put it, whether we want to get over the problem or get through it.

Depending on what sign is in Mars on our chart, we may be more inclined to either address the situation through courage and confidence, or be more inclined to dissemble ourselves in that moment, whether to respond quickly or slowly, with or without considering what our options are -- there are an infinity of combinations to go with this.

( Also, I had to look up this word to make sure I was using it right; "dissemble" means *ahem* "conceal one's true motives, feelings or beliefs", a true Scorpio trait. Scorpio is also ruled by Mars, by the way. Also not to be confused with "disassemble". Aries is also Ruled by Mars, but is more likely to address a situation with courage and whatnot.)

Mars give us opportunities to discover and/or examine whether we're diplomats or warriors. It also shows what type of male or masculine role models we tend to follow.

Whether the desire in us is to fight to our country (whatever country you're from... also I'm also using "whether" a lot... I need to improve my vocab...) or our sense of purpose may come in a more plotting way, leading to us to act, attack or even destroy for the sake of an adrenaline rush, Mars is often aligned with displaying courage and excellence when it comes to sport, dance and adventure.
