Aloe vera is a plant with multiple uses. For example, in traditional Indian medicine, aloe vera is used for constipation, dermatological conditions, parasitic worm infestations, and infections, while in Chinese medicine it is recommended in the treatment of fungal infections.

Aloe vera has, therefore, many health benefits, the plant has used for both internal and external use. But don't forget to ask your doctor for advice if you want to use aloe vera to relieve symptoms.

Aloe vera for internal use

1. Aloe vera treats constipation - A German agency that regulates the use of herbs has approved the use of the aloe vera plant to treat constipation. Doses of between 50 and 200 milligrams of aloe vera latex are administered either as capsules or in liquid form, daily, for up to 10 days. If you want to treat constipation using aloe vera remedies (which contain a yellow liquid derived from the inner layer of aloe leaves), first ask your doctor if you are allowed to take them.

2. Aloe vera helps digestion - Due to its components with laxative and anti-inflammatory effects, aloe vera also has this benefit: it helps digestion. Aloe vera juice, say, experts, aids digestion, normalizes acid/alkaline balance and pH levels encourages digestive bacteria, and regulates intestinal transit.

A study found that taking 30 milliliters of aloe vera juice twice a day reduced the level of abdominal discomfort in 33 patients with irritable bowel syndrome. Participants also said that flatulence decreased. Even so, more research is needed on this topic and a discussion with the attending physician is required before following a natural aloe vera juice cure.

3. Aloe vera stimulates the immune system - The enzymes present in aloe vera break down the proteins we eat into amino acids and turn the enzymes into "fuel" for every cell in our body, which allows the cells to function properly. Aloe vera bradykinesia stimulates the immune system and fights infections. Another important element of aloe vera, zinc, makes this plant an excellent source to combat zinc deficiency/deficiency, as it is essential to maintain the proper functioning of the immune system.

Precautions and possible side effects

It should be borne in mind that the laxative effect of natural aloe vera juice is due, among other things, to the presence of latex in the composition, so it is recommended by physiotherapists for temporary relief of constipation.

Latex can alter the action of drugs or make them ineffective when taken concomitantly, or at a short distance from aloe juice, and this should be taken into account by patients undergoing chronic treatments, especially for heart or digestive disorders.

In addition, aloe vera juice may lower blood sugar, so it is not recommended for patients with hypoglycemia or undergoing hypoglycaemic treatments.

Aloe vera for external use

Studies suggest that the aloe vera plant is effective in treating certain ailments or relieving the symptoms of certain diseases.

1. Aloe vera, an ally in the fight against acne - Research suggests that applying a gel obtained from aloe vera, morning and evening, in addition to medications prescribed by a dermatologist to treat acne, relieves acne symptoms by up to 35%, both at children, as well as adults **.

2. Aloe vera for genital herpes - There is scientific evidence that applying a cream containing 0.5% aloe vera extract, three times a day, increases the healing rate in men with genital herpes.

3. Aloe vera moisturizes the scalp and hair - Aloe vera is an extraordinary natural treatment for dry hair or to soothe an itchy scalp. The aloe vera plant has properties that nourish the skin, and the many vitamins and minerals that are present in these leaves keep hair strong and healthy.

Due to the antibacterial and antifungal properties of aloe vera leaves, this plant also helps with dandruff, and the enzymes in aloe vera gel can remove dead cells from the scalp and encourage tissue regeneration around the hair follicles.

4. Aloe vera provides good protection against UV radiation - Scientists in South Korea wanted to determine if aloe extract could have a protective effect on skin photoaging (the problem induced by exposure to UVB radiation from the sun).

In other words, the researchers wanted to determine if aloe vera extract could protect our skin from the harmful effects of the sun - those that age our skin. The authors of a study concluded that their results suggest that aloe vera extract has the potential to protect the skin against damage from UVB radiation.

5. Aloe vera gel can slow skin aging - In a study of 30 women over the age of 45, it was found that topical application of aloe vera gel increases collagen production and improves skin elasticity during 90 days.
