Self care is something that can be used on a daily basis to rejuvenate and freshen you up, as you end or start your day. There are many different ways to practice self care, and it is something that is really personal and up to you.

When you start off with self care it can feel really foreign if it is something you are not used to. It can feel selfish, and maybe a little weird. With time it can start to feel natural and healing that you are taking care of yourself.

Here are five ways you can incorporate self care into your daily life:

Love Yourself

It can be really hard to start loving yourself if you feel like you are a bad person, or don’t have anything to offer anyone. Luckily, loving yourself is something that can be developed and cultivated. Loving yourself will not happen overnight, so it is super important to be patient with yourself as you start this journey. Start by being able to say no to others, and do what is best for you not for other people around you.

Meditate

Life is so noisy, and there is so much commotion when you go outside. There are a lot of different things that are begging for your attention such as your phone, the TV, work, and other activities in your life. This does not mean that you have to throw these things out of your life, but it does mean that you need to spend some time away from them.

Meditating is a great way to connect with your true self, and understand what is needed. If you have no clue how to meditate there are several different apps that you can use to start learning how to meditate.

Take Care of Your Body

You are going to feel a lot better about yourself when you take care of yourself. This may mean getting enough food, and not starving yourself. It may also mean doing simple tasks on a daily basis, such as brushing your teeth, or showering on a more regular basis. Exercise is a great way to practice self care as well.

You could also practice self care by treating yourself to things that you really enjoy. This could be getting a massage on a monthly or bi-weekly basis. It could be getting a hair mask or trying onion juice for hair growth if it’s something you’ve always wanted to try.

Start Journaling

There is a lot that goes on inside your head every day. This can get overwhelming, and lead to unwanted stress and anxiety. Getting it out on paper is a great way to get it out of your head, and somewhere where you don’t have to worry about it.

You don’t have to save your journals once you finish them, and you don’t have to journal daily. This can be something as simple as starting a blog that only you can read if you don’t want to share it with others.

Get Connected

This does not mean that you have to have a lot of followers on Instagram, or set up a ton of social media accounts. What it does mean is start connecting with the people in your life. This may mean calling up an old friend that you haven’t seen in years, or start being more present wherever you go throughout your day.

Being vulnerable is another great way to feel connected to others. This could be something as simple as saying you are struggling when someone asks you how you are doing. It could be something as big as having a hard conversation with a loved one. You will never regret being vulnerable, because it creates a real connection

There are a lot of different ways to practice self care, and you get to choose what works for you. Start self care by doing something refreshing for yourself today.
