Mindfulness meditation is becoming more and more popular practice these days. People from all over the world started using this tool to improve the quality of their lives. Numerous benefits are being reported from the daily mindfulness practice, however, the 3 of them definitely stand out. These are 3 reasons why you should be practicing mindfulness meditation right now.

1. Mindfulness is good for your heart

Meditation is a great practice if you have or are prone to various heart diseases. It definitely isn't a cure, however, it can help in managing the symptoms and get you back on your feet more quickly.

Most of us know that upcoming deadlines, stress at work or even a fight with your spouse might activate "fight-or-flight" response within our bodies. If such a state is prolonged and becomes a chronic condition, our bodies suffer. Especially our hearts.

Practicing mindfulness meditation daily will definitely help your body self-regulate and get out of "fight-or-flight" state, or at the very least, minimize it. When people meditate their blood pressure lowers and the body enters "rest-and-digest" state. Advanced meditators spend vast majority of their lives in "rest-and-digest" state no matter the circumstances and live most of their lives in calm serenity. It does not mean that you will never get stressed after you become a really experienced practitioner. However, you will definitely experience so little of it that compared to the way it used to be, it will seem almost non-existent.

2. Mindfulness lowers stress and anxiety

Mindfulness meditation is definitely a thing to do when you are feeling anxious. Focusing on your breath and filtering your thoughts will help you to let go of unnecessary, anxiety inducing ones. Furthermore, you will be training yourself to focus better. If you are able to focus on good things in life consciously, your anxiety levels will drop.

Daily mindfulness practice will bring better thoughts, calmer mind, and feelings of peace. Some meditation sessions brings something more. Something words cannot really describe but if I had to, I would say it brings an inner sense of total peace, happiness and freedom. For a little while, at least.

Some people say that 20 minutes of daily meditation is the best thing of their lives. It's like being on vacation everyday for 20 minutes. During that time they forget all their problems and focus only on the present moment. It's an ultimate practice for lowering anxiety and stress levels.

3. Mindfulness increases your ability to focus

If you are having trouble focusing at school, university, or work, meditation should definitely be a part of your daily routine. It is one of the best practice for training yourself to focus for extended periods of time. Advanced meditators are able to give their full attention to one meditation object for hours without a twitch.

However, building up your focusing muscles might take some time. Do not expect to see much difference after first week of meditation (though you might, as you mind will be calmer and that means less distracting thoughts). Usually, this is the skill which takes the longest to develop. But it's definitely worth it.

Think about what you could achieve if you would be able to work on the things you love without any distractions at all. Meditation is a way to get there!

As you can clearly see, there is no point in not meditating. This kind of practice brings so many benefits that it's even impossible to put them down on a single article or even on a book. Go ahead and meditate!
