Did Your Parents Ever Tell You to Make Life Smarter, Not Harder?

15 Lifehacks to Make Your Life a Little Easier

I can't even begin to tell you how many times my parents told me to work smarter, not harder. Sometimes I listened to them and sometimes I didn't. I guess I like to figure things out the hard way, hahaha! I've compiled a list of lifehacks for my readers. Some of these things are as basic and common sense as putting peanut butter on bread. And then there are some things that you'll have the perfect "ahhh" moment. Some of them are funny, but you know you'll use them, and some of them are genuine things you might want to know. Here you go!

1. Spiders HATE peppermint oil. Put some into a spray bottle and spray any area around your house. Popular places are the garage, trash can, doors, and windows. Any place that a spider might be able to get into.

2. You know how every time you go to a concert and start filming, but you end up hearing more of your screaming and singing and less of the actual music? Well, if you cover up the microphone on your phone while recording, you will get a clearer sound when you play the video back later on.

3. Apply deodorant at night instead of in the morning. It's more effective, and you will produce a lot less sweat the next day. Plus you'll smell good when you go to bed!

4. (MY FAVORITE!) When ordering a coffee, ask for a medium coffee to be put into a large cup. They will accidentally overfill it, and you'll get more coffee for a cheaper price.

5. Do you know why the headrests in the front seats of the car are detachable? Because you can use the metal spokes to bust your window if you ever get stuck in your car. Hopefully that will never happen, but you never know!

6. Supercook.com will become your best friend. If you don't know what to make for dinner with the food you have in your kitchen, or if you don't have much in your kitchen but are on a budget, use supercook.com. Just type in the ingredients you do have and it will generate different recipes or meal ideas for you to make!

7. (Another personal favorite) Feeling bad about yourself? Or feeling a little ugly? Go sit in Walmart for a couple hours. You'll begin to feel a lot better about yourself.

8. NUTELLA. Did that get your attention? Do you have less than half of a container of Nutella leftover? Stick the container in the microwave for 15 seconds, then put a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream in it. THE BEST DESSERT.

9. If you bought something on Amazon and the price goes down within 30 days of your purchase, you can email the company and they will send you the difference. Might be able to save a couple dollars.

10. If you accidentally close a tab, no matter what kind of computer it is, just hold together ctrl+shift+t and the window will pop back up.

11. Here's another food hack for you. If you wrap a soft tortilla around a hard shell taco, not only are you holding all your food tightly in there, but also you get the perfect about of softness and crunchiness in every bite. Also you can add sour cream, cheese, guacamole, beans, etc... in-between to keep the soft shell molded to the hard shell.

12. Brown apples are absolutely gross. If you cut up an apple and don't want it to get brown, put the apple back together and hold it together with some rubber bands. Your apples will not get brown.

13. If you're a drinker or a smoker and you're feeling the urge to drink or smoke, go for a run or do some sit ups. Distract yourself with positive habits and you'll start associate quitting the habit with being fit.

14. Lick your wrist and smell it. That is what your breath smells like. You might want a breath mint or something.

15. To get out of the house on time, create a playlist that is exactly as long as you have to get ready in the morning. If you're like me and every day is a little different, either create a couple different playlists or pick one song you have to stop at for each day.

Hopefully these are helpful to you as they have been helpful to me!
