Unkiss Me
~July~ What a pleasant, unexpected surprise, this butterfly in my stomach. I was not prepared to be so affected, but I welcome fluttering within me. I embrace the goosebumps that scatter on my skin when you fly close to me. I cling to familiarity I feel when we are alone. I crave the connection we have. I do believe I haven't felt this before. I do believe in this.

Like a Wispy Hummingbird
She was afraid. Afraid of disappointing the ones she loves, afraid of failing out of school; out of life. She was afraid of what others might think of her, of what they say behind her back. She was afraid of never living up to the expectations placed upon her. She was afraid of never really living.

One Day at a Time
Dear present self, This is your reminder that everything is going to be okay. You're going to get through this just like you did last time. Trust me, I know exactly what you're feeling right now. Now, I'm only going to say this to you once. Get up, tape up that heart of yours (I'll even provide you with the tape), pull your big girl pants on, and let's get through this. You're a warrior. And let me tell you why.

You May Address Me as Sir
It all started very innocent, very vanilla. She wasn't the kind of girl to get too adventurous; in her daily life and in the bedroom. So he was gentle with her heart and with her body. Their days were spent adventuring around the city, while the nights were consumed with endless lovemaking. After many nights of sharing more than just a bed, he had finally earned her trust completely. He had taken over her body, and now he had taken over her heart. She was prepared to do anything for him. She was prepared to love him for the rest of her life. What she wasn't expecting however, was the more intense side to him that explored the depths of her soul, and her body. She wasn't expecting him to take her body to places it had never been before. She also wasn't expecting how much she would actually enjoy it...

Just One More Night
It's Tuesday night and I'm sitting on my couch, home alone, watching a rerun of my favorite TV show. There's coffee on my side table and cookies & cream ice cream in my lap. My legs are curbed to the side with a blanket tucked around them, my phone facedown on top. I feel the vibration almost instantly and reach down to see what's caused it. It's a text from him. He who I haven't spoken to in at least a year, if not more. He who broke my heart and moved in with his pretty new girlfriend. He who broke through all my walls, just to be the reason I built them back up, stronger. I decide to ignore it. I'm not going to let whatever is in that message ruin my perfectly good evening alone. A minute later, I feel the vibration again, and yet again, I ignore it. This final time, the buzzing does not stop, and I realize he's calling me. I decide to answer the phone. I take a deep breath and swipe the bar across the screen to answer the call.

There have been a multitude of things in my life that have made me truly happy. Anything ranging from my friends, to my family, to beautiful experiences I've had, to opportunities that were given to me. I love going to summer concerts, and weekend visits to my best friends. One of my favorite places in the whole world is the coffee shop. It makes me so happy to just sit there any enjoy the atmosphere and the good coffee. I love trying new food and drinking wine. I love doing things that are exciting and new and that I know are going to make me happy!

She Is the Sun, I Am the Moon
Do you like roller coasters? They are exhilarating, yet frightening. With all the tight turns, steep slopes, twists, and loops, it can be overwhelming. Being a girl like this, is like riding the fastest, fiercest roller coaster. A roller coaster of emotions, pretending, and sometimes not feeling good enough.

My Worst Date
Everybody, and I mean everybody, has a worst date story. Maybe the person was boring, or was into some strange things, or maybe they were rude. Whatever the reason was, it was the worst date you'd ever been on. This person could have been a blind date your best friend set you up on, or maybe you met this person on an online dating site, or maybe this person was charming at the bar, but a bore on the date. For me, my worst date was a man I met on Tinder. Tinder of all places, and since then I've boycotted going on dates with men from Tinder.

Sexy Dirty Love
Let's talk about love. No, actually let's talk about sex. Such a fun topic to talk about, isn't it. I'm sure when you're hanging with your girlfriends or your buddies, this topic comes up frequently. You probably talk about that person you met at the bar, how you took them home with you, and played all night long. Or maybe you talk about your sex life with your partner. Maybe you like sending naughty pictures, or maybe you like having someone new in your bed every night. If you're a girl, you probably go into all the raw, dirty details. C'mon ladies, you know you and your girlfriends do that. Me and mine do! Boys? Well, I'm not a guy so I don't really know, but I'm sure you do, too.

Love Always, Grandma
A new favorite song of mine is "Pray"by Sam Smith. I don't know if you've heard it or not, but if you haven't you definitely need to. He sings about how he doesn't go to church and that he's never believed in it all, but that he is still a disciple of the Lord and he needs his help. He sings about how everyone prays in the end and I couldn't find a more true statement.

Pay Yourself First
It's a parents job to help teach and grow their children, so that they are fully prepared for the real world. They spend 18 years sharing wisdom, life lessons, and knowledge on the inner workings of life. And if they are successful then the world gains a smart, mature, young adult to help shape it. Every life lesson is important. Every rule, strict or not, is important. Every word, thought, parenting strategy is important in a child's life. I'm sure there were some lessons that really stuck with you. And I don't mean the basic ones like "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it all" or "make sure to always save your money".

Even Meredith Grey Had a Tribe of People
A person is someone that you share everything with. Someone who holds your hand when you're sad, who dances with you to blow off steam, who protects your heart more than you protect your own, who binge eats and watches movies with you, who loves you unconditionally. Your person might be you sister or brother, your best friend, your mom or you aunt. It could quite literally be anyone who loves you more than life itself. I used to believe that you could only have one person in your life, and now I'm starting to see things a little different. I don't have just one person in my life to fulfill all these things and more. I have a group of people. A tribe. My tribe.
