As a former barista, I can say that I have learned a lot about people in general. There’s a lot of people-watching, unpleasant interactions, and every now and then, surprising friendships. I’ve learned to take the good with the bad and have lots of ridiculous stories, but here are just a few problems I’ve encountered being a coffee wizard:
Shelby WeimerPublished 5 years ago in JournalDear Customers, You Suck
Dear Customers, You truly suck the life out of the workers at the grocery store, market, or whatever else you call one of the hugest parts of the service industry. You may think "I'm always nice, it's the employee causing the problem." But the truth is if you've ever complained, we remember you. If you've ever gone to one of the departmental service counters and gotten a dozen little scoops or pieces or samples of whatever it is, we make note of you. So many people when they are shopping have to put items back... If we figure out it was you... we'll remember. If you ask us to make or bring out fresh of anything just because you're being picky, then only get a small amount... WE REMEMBER IT. Yes, we also remember the nice ones and the ones who talk too much and the ones who make it impossible to get caught up.

You might see us pushing wheelchairs, walking with clients through your local YMCA or community centre. Sometimes you don't see us at all. We are always behind the scenes and rarely thought about when it comes to mental health.
Steven AltmanPublished 5 years ago in JournalSo Why Don't You Make One?
As a bit of a film and television critic, one could rightfully, some might think, ask if I could do any better. After all, making a film is not easy. As the saying goes, if it was, everyone would do it. Maybe that's true. But as technology has advanced and many professions that were the preserve of the few, become accessible to all, increasing numbers of people are doing exactly that; making films.

It isn't what I thought it would be. It is so much more. I wrote proposals for 20 years. Automatically—amost robotically. By the time I stopped, I could practically write one in my sleep.
Denise HedleyPublished 5 years ago in JournalThe Routine Job Type
It’s very easy to get very overwhelmed when you are a cashier. The environment in which you work is often the same and the people you come in contact with on a daily basis are almost always the same as well. It’s very easy to get caught up in the motions and stuck in routine while on the job day in and day out. Which makes it easier to get caught up in where you once were in life, how you got to where you are and also places a very heavy focus on where you would like to be. The impact that the environment, the people, customers, and co-workers that you work around all have a very strong impact on your mood while you’re on the job.

First off, I'd like to introduce myself. My pseudo name is Savvy Shades. I'm not gonna start at the beginning. I'm going to start with a real-life story. I think back to my time as a service member. At this point in my career, I was single. I was an athlete. I was looking to make more money while in the military. Contrary to what a lot of people think, military pay isn't that much. Yes, they provide things like healthcare, housing, travel. No one ever asks nor inquires about what YOU give up in order to receive those benefits. You give up you. You lose your freedom of speech to name one and you forfeit the others. Okay, that's enough, let's get into this housekeeper thing.

In these days of unprecedented technological growth, things are moving faster than many of us can keep up. For years, some companies have been reluctant to embrace change, while others have been able to see the value in trying something new.
