A Tale Of A Lost Mobile Phone.

"Check under your bed!" My husband had been telling me all day.

I checked under the bed three times, and there was no sign of my mobile, anywhere.

I could hear the phone ringing, and it sounded very close by. Everything that makes a sound, sounds like it's right next to you, or in the same room in our house, because the noise tends to bounce of the hollow walls from each corner.

So;

There I am franticly checking under chairs, under every bed in the house, down the couch, in drawers, in the washing machine, cooker, cupboards, kitchen and bathroom.

Hell, I even checked the fridge and toilet, yet it wasn't there!

I eventually made a cup of coffee, and sat down because I was frustrated with not being able to find it, though I checked my chair six times over during that time.

I suddenly had a brainwave.

"I might have accidently put it in one of the bins," I told my husband.

I emptied every single bin in and outside of the house just to find it, but by this point it had stopped ringing, which only made it harder to find.

"Where the fuck is it?" I asked, out of confusion.

"I'm telling you, it is under the bed! That's where you put it, last night," my husband plainly told me.

I rolled my eyes, and sat with my head in my hands in silence.

I was sure that it wasn't under the bed, as I had checked several times, yet I still couldn't find it.

I spent the next two hours emptying the gardening cupboard. We didn't have a shed, only this tall, but tiny store cupboard where we kept all of the gardening equipment, and there was alot of it.

It took me three hours to empty that cupboard, and another three to put it all back!

I was not impressed when I did not find my phone in there.

I resorted to emptying every cushion cover in the house, which my husband and kids found hilarious because they knew that I was going to complain drastickly about having to put the covers back on the cushions.

Nope, not there, either.

As a last resort, I decided to call all of my friends, because I had a habit of leaving things at their houses when I left.

They hadn't seen it.

I had already checked everywhere in our house, so I thought that I might have left it in the back garden, of which I checked three times. I wasn't going to leave any corner uncleared so I even put on my construction gear and waded through the thick Himalayan Bramble that had started regrowing at the back of the garden.

I was mad at the end, because it was a waste of time.

I gave up!

I walked back into the house grumbling, and sputtering some rather obscene words at myself, for my carelessness.

However, as I sat down, my phone started ringing again, and the sound was definately coming from inside the house.

I stomped off up the stairs, like a two year old who had lost their favourite teddy bear.

You can laugh at me if you want, but;

A teddy is often a child's favourite toy, and a mobile phone is my favourite toy.

I sat on my bed, trying desperately to rationalize where I might have put it, that was when I heard it, only this time the sound was closer.

"Brrrrr! Brrrrr! Brrrrr!"

It was coming from under my bed, but I still couldn't see it.

Leaving it, I disappeared to bed, and covered my ears so that I couldn't hear the annoying buzz from the mobile phone, which drove me insane all night.

When I woke up in the morning, I took another look under my bed, and I couldn't believe it!

I rolled my eyes, picked it up, and said to myself;

"It's under the bed....Duh!"

My husband gave me the cockiest of looks, and my response was, "Don't you dare tell me, I told you so!"

It was too late, because he had already said it.
