When One Door Closes

Go out and come in again!

As humans, we have so many contradictory feelings and emotions, it's crazy, confusing, and ultimately, "it is what it is."

We want to understand, explain, or justify everything we do or say, in our imperfect way of trying to make it all make sense.

Well people, sometimes things just don't make sense and we have to learn to leave it at that, and if necessary, simply walk away.

I came to that realization recently about a writing platform I wrote on for five long years and practically feel like I was married to (and I have the kids from the union to show for it - over 2,000 of them).

This particular stream of consciousness of mine is not to vent or complain or even unload everything I want to say about the situation. I already did that last night, in a 14-minute long preliminary goodbye story.

My purpose in writing now, is to address the expression: "When one door closes…"

The completion of the quote says: "…another one opens", and I guess technically that's true. But it's also another one of those humanistic attempts to explain the explainable.

It does nothing to address A) Why the door closed in the first place B) Where the other door leads to - possibly somewhere worse. C) Do you actually want or need the "room" when the first door closes.

My decision to move on in life, with regard to the writing platform that broke my heart and singed me about writing, was made with the intent to potentially just go out and find something else I care equally about.

However, I've come to the conclusion that "my writing" is not the door that closed, "the platform" is the exit door, but thankfully, it's a revolving door, and upon reentry, I can proceed to another area in side.

So, in harmony with my analogy - if that's what it is, I'm reentering the door of my "writing" and merely heading in another direction.

In fact, I'm heading down a similar path, but taking advantage of different options this time, and I like it.

I'm having a good time, and I believe that eventually, I'll come to feel just as much of an attachment, and eventually love that I still feel for the place that didn't appreciate me.

Final Thoughts

At this time, I'll close and say I'm happy that one of the new pathways that my options have led me to is Vocal Media and I think I'll try to make more of a presence in the community and on the platform than in the past.

While I've toyed with that decision during the course of my five-year marriage, I never allowed myself to stray too far from home base, and I never gave this space a real chance. When I tried, it felt like cheating.

I guess my meager portfolio of 110 stories on Vocal can be akin to me trying unsuccessfully to go through the act of infidelity. LOL

It feels good to be able to laugh with you all about it right now, especially after the way I spiraled last night with my message to them.

I can only assume that means I'm on the right track now, and the plan is to continue to stay on it.

Greetings Vocal: I'm Justiss Goode, and I'm happy to be here.
