What About The Night We Met?
Wasn't That Special To You Too?
The day we met in the park was more special to me than you think, despite the trauma that life had brought to me.
I was fifteen years old, and sleeping alone on the street; something a child should never have to go through. I was terrified because I did not know how to survive, and the boyfriend I was with back then did not have a clue how to help me at all.
He was bent on me moving in with him, and I sure as hell was not doing that straight away, because we had only just met.
Please don't ask me why I ended up going out with him. I can't answer that because I don't know. All I know is that it wasn't a real relationship. He was much older than me, and I was trauma bonded by my situation.
Anyway, enough of that. I don't want to remember that horrible trauma. It's behind me, now.
The first time I met you was in that park, where we talked and played music all night. My boyfriend was going to leave me there, because his brother put him on a curfew of ten o clock, because he wasn't getting home early enough for him.
I laugh hard, when I think of a nineteen year old being put on a curfew by his brother! I'm sure you'll understand why.
I was freezing that night. I only had a very thin summer top, leggings and a jacket that was thinner than paper. Well, it was summer, and I wasn't allowed to get my clothes.
You did not want me sleeping alone, so you stayed with me. We listened to music all night, and it felt good to be able to play my own songs instead of my boyfriends. I wasn't allowed to do that often.
We laughed and joked all night. You made sure I ate and had a drink, and we walked through the park singing Ozzy Osbourne songs.
I got to know Ozzy really well because of you, and the first time I heard his music was because of you.
We played alot of Black Sabbath , and we debated one song very often. That was this one!

Fairies wear boots was one of those songs that sent us into an hysterical debate all night long, before I fell asleep on your shoulder (Oops...but, no, I'm not ashamed!)
Once we debated that, we woke up debating more together, and I learned about Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne in fascinating ways.
I'm still a mega-fan today.
We were full of love that night, and neither of us wanted to admit it because we both had partners (or so we thought, but in my case; it wasn't a real partner).
However, we didn't need to be together in that way, because the friendship we shared went beyond anything that a relationship could offer.
I remember crying in your arms when I was hurt, and I could tell you anything. You were so good at keeping secrets, and you always respected me.
But;
I have a question.
What about the night we met?
Wasn't that special to you, too?
I haven't seen you for decades, but the fact I still think about you, says I still care.
I hope that one day, you'll read this, and only then will you see that we have a friendship that should be treasured for life, and that is not something we should throw away, just because trauma put some distance between us.
Friendship comes from the heart,
It still bonds when we are apart,
But only true friendship can last from the
start.
