Slave owner Washington became president, usually used to the life of the clothes, nature can not adapt to the days without slaves.

However, Washington himself always preached that "all men are created equal". He knew that if he kept female slaves, he would not be seen in the light. So he came up with the idea of digging a tunnel in the presidential palace and letting female slaves move in the tunnel!

The wise Washington thought he had done a seamless job, but he seemed to forget one point, that is: iron camp, water president!

He did not expect that more than 200 years later, workers dug up an underground passageway at the site of the presidential Palace in Philadelphia. Thus, the long-buried Washington slave-holding scandal was lifted!

From a slave owner to a president

Washington was born in 1732 at Wakefield Manor in Virginia, the son of a wealthy landowner. When he was 11 years old, his father died of illness, and he inherited his father's estate. And, of course, all my father's slaves belonged to him.

From birth, Washington was a slave owner. Every day, special slaves took care of his food and living. He was surrounded by nine female slaves who took care of him for as long as he needed them.

Of course, these women slaves had no rights, and the children they gave birth to were slaves. As a slave owner, Washington could do whatever he wanted with them.

When he married his wife Martha in 1759, he acquired more than 20 "dowry" slaves. After their marriage, the couple devoted themselves to expanding the plantation, which required a lot of labor, so the Washingtons became regular customers in the slave market, once buying 40 slaves at a time.

By the time of Washington's death, at least 300 slaves -- nearly half of them women -- were living on Washington's Mount Vernon estate.

It is worth mentioning that George Washington died in the same year as the Qianlong emperor of our Qing Dynasty. What a coincidence!

As an adult, Washington joined the army and fought in the seven-year war between Britain and France. Washington's future command of the continental army came from his experience and prestige as a British soldier in the Seven Years' War with France.

In 1775, the American Revolution broke out. Washington became commander in chief of the Continental Army. Washington instructed his troops, "Do not listen to any proposals for peace until all Indian settlements have been effectively destroyed."

Washington even taught his soldiers to "peel the skin from the dead body of an Indian from the hip down, so that high boots may be made, or as long as the legs."

It can be seen that Washington not only had racial discrimination against AfricAn-Americans, but also regarded Indians as inferior to blacks.

He was elected America's first president in 1789, stepping over the corpses of countless natives.

Second, as one of the advocates of "all men are created equal", he secretly raised black slaves

It is interesting to note that at the same time as the American Revolution began, Washington posted a number of private notices in the town offering a reward for ten escaped slaves.

It turned out that his black slaves took advantage of his lax care and fled, angry, Washington used the force of the army to catch them back.

This shows that Washington was still very concerned about the control of slaves.

After Washington became president, he kept the habit of keeping slaves because he was used to the days when he could not live without them. At his side, all year round, there are nine female black slaves to accompany, mainly wait on his clothes, food, housing and transportation.

The presidential palace was in Philadelphia, an abolitionist state. By law, after six months in Pennsylvania, a slave could leave slavery forever.

Washington was viscerally opposed to such a law. But he had just become president, and he could not interfere with state justice. So he secretly hid his slaves.

How and where?

Washington has ways!

To enjoy the subservience of his slaves, he had them dig a tunnel through the presidential palace and then let the women enter and exit through underground tunnels. He also rotated his slaves every six months to keep them alive without breaking the law.

And when they were nearly six months old, he would send them back to Freenhill and bring new ones.

That way, no one would know that he was using black slaves. Even if he were found out, he'd change it every six months, and there wouldn't be much wrong with it.

But man's calculations are worse than nature's, and accidents still happen.

The slave girl ran away

In the presidential palace in Washington, there was a slave girl named Onnie, because she was very good at sewing, very liked by the Washington couple. Washington even wrote of her in his diary: "The perfect woman with a needle."

Meanwhile, Mrs. Washington often took Onnie out with her because she was smart, small, and well-behaved, which gave her access to the servants of other celebrities.

One day, someone else's nigger told her, "You know what, Onnie? If you stay here for six months, you'll be free!"

Onnie, who had grown up on a farm in Washington, was shocked to hear this: She was a slave. Would she ever be free?

From that day on, she planted a seed of freedom in her heart, always looking for a chance to escape. But Washington was so guarded against the slaves that it was difficult to escape. Besides, even if she could escape, she was afraid of being caught again.

One day in 1796, the Washingtons talked about giving her to their daughter Elizabeth, who was about to marry. But she overheard him hiding in the next room. She knew she could not drag it on any longer, and decided to escape that night.

That night, Onnie took the opportunity to sneak out of the presidential palace under the cover of darkness and quickly fled Philadelphia. By the time Lady Martha learned of Onnie's escape, she was dozens of miles away.

Martha was furious. She went to Washington and asked him to bring her back. Washington, of course, was also very angry, and sent someone to find Annie, and said: if she gave birth to offspring, take back to Philadelphia as slaves.

And at this time, Ang Ni, has been married, and gave birth to a daughter. She got the news and, with the help of local officials, fled to the town overnight with her daughter in her arms.

It was not until 1799, when Washington died of illness, that she was truly free and did not have to run for her life.

Many years later, when she was an old lady in her 70s and 80s, a reporter came to interview her. "I never regret running away from the palace," she told reporters. "I have freedom. I believe God gave me this when I was a child."

With Onnie gone, the president's slave-owning past was buried.

After Washington's death, although he left a will to set the slaves free, his wife kept 154 slaves and passed them on to her grandchildren (no blood relation to Washington, who had no biological children).

One more thing: Washington lost his teeth early, so he had to get dentures. Ordinary people do not use porcelain, is to use metal, that is, we Chinese called "gold teeth". But not Washington, who installed real teeth!According to Washington's own diary, he bought nine teeth from the Negro for 122 shillings. This nigger, after selling his teeth to Washington, could hardly eat by himself.

We have reason to believe that this nigger was forced to sell Washington teeth!

Four secret channels of exposure

Little is known about Washington's history of keeping slaves. However, with the later construction of a city project, this hidden secret of more than 200 years was finally uncovered!

Archaeologists excavating the site of Washington's presidential mansion in Philadelphia have discovered an underground passageway and other remains that have been identified as the activity and residence of nine slaves in Washington's former household.

Originally, in 2007, the United States began to excavate the ruins of the presidential palace in Philadelphia, the results in the basement, unexpectedly found a shocking "black slave secret passage".

To explain, the capital of the United States was not originally Washington, but Philadelphia, where the first President Washington and the second President John Adams lived and worked. By the turn of the century, when many thought the old palace was not worth keeping, the municipal authorities were ready to tear it down and called in some archaeological experts to the site.

Experts have concluded that the main purpose of this passage was to keep slaves in and out of the house from being seen by guests, and that the basement connected to it was their living place.

Although Washington is regarded as the father of the nation by Americans, his black history of raising black slaves and slaughtering Native Americans is kept secret by Americans. Is this also called "family dirty laundry should not be aired in public"?

Although he said in his will that he would set the slaves free, he spent his whole life in slavery.

Of course, there are people in the United States who oppose Washington, whose giant portrait has been pushed by dozens of people. The reasons given by these people are:

"Washington is a genocidal colonizer."
