To Wear or Not To Wear Golf Gloves

A little information about the use of golf gloves

T o find the best golf glove for you..

Wearing a golf glove is not a requirement for gaming, but is recommended. From where? It's pretty simple: A golf glove helps the golfer stay safe at the golf club. It is not as sticky as the material used in human hand golf gloves. This is especially true if the golfer is sweating or when the handles of the golf club are wet. A golf glove will provide a safer grip on the club.

But does that mean you have to wear a golf glove? Actually, no.

Golf gloves help the golfer maintain a good grip on the golf club without getting too tight on the golf club (which creates strain on the hands, wrists, and forearms - and tension is bad).

Most golfers only wear one glove; a small number do not wear gloves at all. A smaller number of wear gloves for both hands. In order for you to use the glove comfortably and not restrict your hand movements, the glove requires a comfortable fit (some manufacturers like a second skin). A golf glove that is too large can slip during the swing, defeating the purpose of wearing it once in the first place.

Other than that, there are many golfers who will only play 18 holes under good weather conditions, while others look at a rainy day as an opportunity to take advantage of a less crowded golf course. Many courses offer “rainy day specials” on wet days, and using the right type of gloves is essential under wet weather conditions. Rain gloves are sold in pairs, and are meant to be worn on both hands while golfing in the rain. They are coated in a special material that actually becomes more tacky and “grippy” when wet, similar to the materials used on the palms and fingers of football gloves.

How To Wear The Golf Gloves?

The glove should be on the left hand for right-handed players and on the right hand for left-handed players. The lead hand is the left hand for right-handed golfers, and for left-handed golfers the lead hand is on the right. Most golfers leave their top hand, or “trail hand” without a glove, as it is less likely to develop blisters on this hand, and many prefer the feel of the bare thumb on the golf grip.

In conclusion...

Some golfers, like Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey, wear gloves on both hands or no gloves at all; but a glove placed on the lead hand is the norm.

Gloves are worn when shooting from the tee, the fairway and towards the green.

Here's my advice; get a glove and give it a try. See how it feels and as long as you're comfortable playing golf, it's a better idea to play with gloves.

But if wearing a glove bothers you, be sure to keep your hands and the hooks on your golf clubs dry before each stroke.
