Spring is in the air. Glorious spring. It feels like everything is opening back up in the world. There is hope in the wind. The sun is shining bright in the sky. It’s apropos right now to smell the flowers, enjoy the sunshine, and binge on a TV comedy with a will-they-or-won’t-they romance.

Fall in love with your favorite characters falling in love. Share their heartbreak, celebrate their joy, laugh and cry along with them.

Find a new show to love, or sink your teeth back into a favorite. This list contains some legendary TV comedies, with famous characters. A few shows are bringing the sexual heat to the screen right now. We know them by their combined first names. We've rooted for them to be together week after week. Couples we loved to love because they are better together.

Here are some favorite will-they-or-won't-they romances from comedy television shows you can plop on your couch and stream right now.

Superstore: Jonah and Amy (2015-2021)

Amy and Jonah, Superstore

Superstore follows the lives of retail store employees in the fictional Cloud 9 Superstore. (Cloud 9 is a cross between Walmart and Kmart.) The heat turns up early for Amy (America Ferrera) and Jonah (Ben Feldman) as the two develop a connection, and quickly become friends.

Their relationship becomes an on-again-off-again that surely feels more off than on at times. Still, they make the most adorable on screen duo. Jonah’s laid back humor blends well with Amy’s high energy. You want them to be together, but the show makes us wait until the very end to find out they are meant to be. It’s well worth it.

Superstore is bold and smart. Bonus friendship that-could-be-a-romance between Cheyenne (Nichole Sakura) and Mateo (Nico Santos) is deeply sweet.

Superstore is currently streaming on Hulu

Cheers: Sam and Diane (1982-1993)

Sam and Diane, Cheers

Cheers’s will-they-or-won’t-they romance between bar owner Sam Malone, (Ted Danson) and Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) was the first of its kind on TV. It rewrote comedy sitcom rules by creating a formula that kept viewers guessing. Returning week after week to watch. Diane’s snobby and elitist lifestyle contrasted Sam’s working class upbringing. Sam made Diane palpable and likable. Diane made Sam kinder and more tactful.

Sam and Diane were a pop cultural phenomenon. The show was a television mainstay for a decade. It featured employees and repeat customers at the fictional bar "Cheers," in Boston. Despite being full of 80's hair and fashion, the show is still laugh out loud funny.

The addition of Woody (Woody Harrelson) in season four elevated the show’s comedic performances. His romance with Kelly (Jackie Swanson) was so funny and charming.

Cheers currently streaming on Hulu, Peacock, Amazon Prime.

Schitt’s Creek: Patrick and David (2015-2020)

Patrick and David, Schitt's Creek

The show was just the darling of the 2020 award season. It seemed as soon as everyone started watching, the series ended. Centered around the Rose family, a wealthy and spoiled family suddenly left with nothing but the ownership of the town, Schitt’s Creek. Forced to move there, the series starts with a possible will-they-or-won’t they between David. (Dan Levy) and motel employee Stevie Budds (Emily Hamshire). The romance is over before it begins, but the two develop a friendship-that-could-be-a-romance as equally satisfying

The introduction of Patrick (Noah Reid) in season three as a romantic interest for David creates unexpected sexual tension. Just a few episodes in, and we were begging for Patrick and David to become a couple. It’s so right. Patrick is laid back, and this combines perfectly with David’s many insecurities and quirks. By the time Tina Turner sings, we were rooting for them so hard it left us gasping for breath.

Schitt’s Creek is currently streaming on Netflix

Friends: Ross and Rachel (1994-2004)

Rachel and Ross, Friends

Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Anniston) are the will-they-or-won’t they of a generation. The show Friends has continued to remain popular long after its ten season run. The show centered on six friends post college trying to find themselves and grow up in New York City.

In season one Ross revealed a classic crush on his sister Monica’s (Courteney Cox) childhood friend, Rachel. Ross and Rachel start off as a will-they-or-won’t-they that turns into an often volatile and feisty relationship. The two seem an unlikely pair, and their vicious fights led to some of the best pop culture one liners. Were they on a break, or each other’s lobster?

The actors managed to keep the story continuously fresh until the very last scene, in the very last episode of the series.

Equally juicy was the romance between “Friends” Monica (Courteney Cox) and Chandler (Matthew Perry) at the beginning of season five. This relationship was honest and relatable, and was sometimes more delicious than Ross and Rachel.

Friends is currently streaming on HBO Max

Sex Education: Otis and Maeve (2019-?)

Maeve and Otis, Sex Education

Sex Education is a current British television series following teenage romance at the fictional Mooredale secondary school. The series finds Otis, (Asa Butterfield) an insecure teenager whose mother Dr. Jean Milbrun (Gillian Anderson) is a renowned sex therapist.

Otis sets up an amateur sex education clinic with “bad girl” Maeve (Emma Mackey). This salty comedy is raunchy, but addictive. Watching high school students struggle to understand complex romantic relationships, and stumble their way through sexual desires is raw and honest. It’s been renewed for a yet to be released third season.

Sex Education is currently Streaming Seasons 1 & 2 on Netflix

The Office: Jim and Pam (2005-2013)

Jim and Pam, The Office

The Quintessential will-they-or-won’t-they of the aughts was the sweet and adorable relationship between Jim Halpert (John Kraskinski) and Pam Beesley (Jenna Fisher).

The Office was a mockumentary style comedy that followed the lives of the employees at the fictional Dunder Mifflin paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Famously headed by Michael Scott (Steve Carell) who brought the series to life, and separated it from the much successful British show of the same name.

The Office featured several other on-again-off-again relationships between Ryan Howard (B.J. Novak) and Kelly Kapoor, (Mindy Kaling) and Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) and Angela Howard (Angela Kingsley).

None of these relationships could compare to Jim and Pam. Their seemingly natural relationship progression in the series was so endearing. Their sideways love looks to each other, and their air high fives- we were there for each one. Jim and Pam become synonymous for the romantic dream we all desire.

The Office is currently streaming on NBC Peacock

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Jake and Amy (2013-?)

Jake and Amy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Brooklyn Nine-Nine's quirky detectives and absurd story lines revolve around a fictional Brooklyn 99 police station. Jake Perlata (Adam Sandburg) slowly develops feelings for Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumera) and they start a will-they-or-won’t-they relationship we are all rooting to succeed.

Amy is a strong willed and competent detective. She is an excellent comedic straight man to Andy Samburg’s Jake. Amy’s character puts her career first, and she is a strong and independent character. We love the modern take on a will-they-or-won’t-they relationship delving into issues of gender equity.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine was awarded by GLAAD for its excellent LBGTQ+ story lines and characters.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is currently streaming on Hulu

Glee: Santana and Brittany (2009-2015)

Brittany and Santana, Glee

Early viewers of the show rooted heavily for Blaine (Darren Criss) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) as they navigated their relationship at fictional McKinley High School. However, it was the natural progression of Santana’s (Naya Rivera) character navigating her sexual identity that stole the show. It was a relatable and honest portrayal of a journey to understanding identity.

Her relationship with Brittany (Heather Morris) felt just right, and through their relationship both characters grew up exponentially. Santana became less angry and edgy, and Brittany grew more intuitive and confident. They were better together, and the audience rooted for them as they grew into their own.

Glee is currently streaming on Netflix, and Amazon Prime

Grown-ish: Zoe and Luka (2018-?)

Zoe and Luka, Grown-ish

A spin-off of Black-ish, the series follows eldest daughter Zoe (Yara Shahidi) into college. Zoe finds out college life wasn't what she expected in a charming coming of age story. She immediately falls for both Aaron (Trevor Jackson) and Luka (Luka Sabbat). In a will-they-or-won’t-they love triangle. She must choose between "woke" activist Aaron, and laid back stoner Luka.

The audience is rooting for Zoe to end up with Luka, but romance is never easy in a will-they-or-won’t-they plot. She needs to find herself first, and that means exploring different types of romantic partners, AKA not Luka.

Grown-ish is currently streaming on Hulu

Sex and the City: Miranda and Steve (1998-2004)

Steve and Miranda, Sex and the City

No, it wasn’t Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Mr. Big (Chris Noth) who really took our hearts for a ride. Although it was intended as the lead on-again-off-again romance of the series, it was Miranda’s (Cynthia Nixon) one night stand with bartender Steve (David Eigenberg) that got our hearts.

The one night stand led to a pregnancy (thank you for writing Cynthia Nixon’s real life pregnancy into the series) Despite Miranda’s attempt to get rid of Steve, welcoming her son and baby daddy Steve into the picture was perfect. Steve softened Miranda’s hard shell. He made her laugh, and he was just the right laid back to her type A.

The best part of the will-they-or-won’t-they is when it’s clear the couple is better together. This was true of Miranda and Steve. The more Miranda pushed him away, the more we wanted to see Steve on screen. Steve was sweet and likable.

Sex and the City is currently streaming on Hulu

Enjoy all the love sparks and sweet glances from a far. Let me know if there were any will-they-or-won’t-they romances I forgot to mention in the comments.
