The coolest left hand

In June 2011, Brawn, the boss of the F1 Mercedes GP team, received a very interesting letter. The paper was red, smelled faintly of lilac, and was carefully folded to look like a car.

Brown laughed at the fact that the writer was so familiar with his hobbies: red, lilacs and cars.

But the writing was terrible, crooked and dreadfully large. 'How do you do, dear Mr Brown? You must have scowled as you read this and muttered, 'This is terrible handwriting.

Why didn't you just email me? 'However, I think it's more sincere to write by hand. Well, speaking of hands, I must meditate for a moment..."

"It's kind of hard to say. Yes, I have a distinctive left hand. But it doesn't really exist, it always exists in my heart... But it has always been my dream to be an F1 engineer. Mr.

Brown, you run the coolest team in the world, but do you know where the coolest left hand is? It's at Touch Bionics, it's called iLimb Pulse..." It turned out that Mr Brown had gone to so much trouble to buy him a top-of-the-range prosthetic arm for £35,000 from Touch Bionics.

It was written by Matthew James, 14, who lives in Wokingham, Berkshire. He says his left hand is unique and unique in his heart because he was born without it. In the letter, the crafty teenager said that if the F1 team could grant his wish, he would allow his bionic left hand to be engraved with the LOGO of F1 Mercedes Benz team, and raise his left hand every day to advertise for the team.

Asking someone to throw £35,000 at him was not a small thing. But when Brown read out the letter at a party, everyone in the room felt that if reality was as he said, they would help the cyclist.

With Matthew and his letter, Brown approached the owner of Touch Bionics. Matthew lost no time in raising his bare left arm and said, "MY arm is strong and will not dishonor your iLIMB pulse bionic hand."

The company immediately decided to have the top-of-the-range hand custom-made for him and charged him just £10,000 for the materials. Formula One team members and people who heard Matthew's story through the team's official twitter account quickly raised £10,000 for him.

It took a while, but Matthew, who was sure to be fitted with the world's best bionic hand in two months 'time, began a different life. He tied knives, forks and brushes to his left arm to eat and write. He patted his father's shoulder with his clumsy left arm.

When he bent over to pick up a ball, he even stubbornly extended his left arm before using his right hand to assist...

On August 12, 2011, Touch Bionics fitted Matthew with an advanced bionic left hand. After being fitted with a bionic hand, it takes about half a year of training for a patient to do some basic movements.

However, Matthew, who has been trained carefully for the first two months, quickly got used to the happiness brought by the high-tech device: he could easily pick up an apple and write beautiful words with the pen. It can even hold the heavy SLR camera with the right hand and focus it flexibly. But unlike most of the others, Matthew is not embarrassed to wear the bionic hand.

When someone stares curiously at his robotic left hand, he will spread out his fingers, palm smile and ask: "Don't you think this is the coolest left hand in the world?"

Why not? Just as he had doggedly tied the pen to his mutilated left arm as he wrote to Brown, and even when the words were painfully crooked, Matthew told himself, from now on, I must rest my right hand for a while.

The right hand, which has been working hard for 14 years, has no obligation to do the work of two hands with one hand. So now, he's going to give his coolest left hand, with great responsibility and honor!
