The Concept of Love
What is love? Many musical artists have written songs about people who they love or have broken their hearts. Many poets have written poems about it. There are also movies and TV shows that show characters falling in love. But what is it? A scientist would say it’s a rush of hormones like oxytocin and vasopressin being sent to the right parts of the brain that make you feel happy, make your heart beat faster and when they’re not around you can’t wait to see them again, but what is it to humans and animals in general?

In human emotions, love emerges as the most profound and often bewildering experience. Love is a paradox, demanding a balance between giving and receiving, sacrifice, and self-care.

I had always been eager to love. Brimming with admiration for anyone that wasn't me, that I could bounce off of and grow in a direction towards who I wanted to be as opposed to who I was. I convince myself they made me better, they helped me become who I am today and to a degree that's true, only through experience. It would be harsh to say any relationship I've had was a mistake, perhaps closer to a misstep. So when a colleague suggested I join Tinder, I was sceptical.

Love so strong that sometimes makes you smile and sometimes makes you cry, but when you find that pure love you will definitely smile forever, every day, I am grateful for your presence in my life. Your love has filled my heart with joy and warmth, when the storms and challenges of life try to weigh me down the joy of having you in my life always overshadow my heart thereby giving me inner-peace and joy in the midst of the storm, you are my true inspiration, I call you my peace for in you I find comfort.

Love is a Shitload of Work
Love… is a shitload of work. This is most likely because ‘love’ is a verb and not a nouny feeling like we want to believe. If love were a noun, it would be simpler to understand because nouns are straight forward and honest; self-centered, to be sure, but with a noun you can be certain what kind of person, place, or thing you’re getting.

From generation to generation and throughout history, the way we live our lives changes. The things that people did generations ago might very well be looked at with a few raised eyebrows and head shakes. At the same time, if those that have lived centuries before us could see how much the world has changed, they’d have their heads spinning.

"Those three words are said too much, they’re not enough." The older I get, the truer those words from Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars, become. There is no denying the power of those words. They can change minds, change lives, mend hearts, start revolutions. Saying them and hearing them can be incredibly powerful.

When I was 7 I wanted to be a Solid Gold Dancer. For those of you not yet receiving letters urging you to join AARP, Solid Gold was music television series and a staple of Saturday night television from 1980-1988. Like other music series of the time, Solid Gold featured musical performances by the artists charting that week. Unlike American Bandstand and Soul Train, Solid Gold didn't have a live audience dancing as though they were in a club, instead featuring heavily choreographed performances by their in-house dancers.
