The letters LGBTQ are just another way of saying that Love is Love.
I Discovered I’m Demisexual and I Don’t Know What to Do About It
I haven’t had much of a romantic life and I’ve just turned 50. To my family and my best friend, this is rarely if ever mentioned. To be fair, to my family and my best friend, it’s never been an area of any concern. To them, I suppose, it’s just always been “Natalie just doesn’t do that kind of thing… just the way she is.” For my father, I think it was a relief. He was very protective and a bit on the old fashioned side.

Take the News of the Day in Small Doses.
My fiancé and I are finally putting the finishing touches on our podcast. We’ve been mulling the idea for years, pausing as our world turned upside down and inside out in 2020/21, and finally we returned to the idea for 2022. We’ve recorded four episodes thus far so we can listen, take notes, tighten the format, and decide how we want it all to work. I’m pleased with our progress, and we’re getting close to a product we will be proud to share. We are a black queer cis man and a white queer trans woman discussing the news and current events we find interesting. (Or absurd.) We really want to get this right. We’re nearly ready to introduce the baby.

Of course you love your family… (maybe, with caveats, assuming they aren’t LGBTQ+ if you choose not to “believe in them”…)
I’m quite fond of the words of Khalil Gibran. So much of his poetry has infused and informed my life. This one (slightly edited) in particular, stuck, it’s called On Children:

What's In A Name?
I got an email from Medium saying if I don't have 100 followers by 2/23 they'll stop sending my 20 cents a month. I've not tried to build a following, published only a very few articles, and can't even seem to manage a decision on Who to write As. But those few cents a month are more affirming than I first realized. Those tiny deposits represent being paid as a writer. And I have always wanted to call myself a Writer almost as much as I wanted to call myself the woman I have always been.

Being Transgender isn’t a Choice
Some time ago, I had an unfortunate altercation with a distant family member. She had kept her silence regarding my transition until some drama bubbled to the surface regarding another hot button topic. That’s when she revealed her genuine feelings and accused me of being unable to decide which gender I am.

Separating Gender Identity from Sexuality
Often when I see something posted online related to the transgender community, I see a lot of comments from people referring to sexuality instead. Many people seem to be under the mistaken assumption that there’s a relationship between being transgender, or genderqueer, and someone’s sexuality or sexual preferences. This causes confusion between what sexuality and gender identity are.

Dear Lois,
I think about you all the time. I think about how when we first met, you were only 30 and I was 22. You were so mature, so statuesque. I don't think I was as mature as you when I finally reached 30. Back then, you were married with three young children not yet in high school. Forgive me for thinking you were so much older. I can hear you saying it now, "I've always had a very old soul."

When Body Positivity is Transphobic
There has been a growing movement for people to love their own bodies while also respecting others, regardless of their shape or size. In general, the body positivity movement is great for the mental health and well-being of everyone.
