Separating Gender Identity from Sexuality
Often when I see something posted online related to the transgender community, I see a lot of comments from people referring to sexuality instead. Many people seem to be under the mistaken assumption that there’s a relationship between being transgender, or genderqueer, and someone’s sexuality or sexual preferences. This causes confusion between what sexuality and gender identity are.

Gender Expression is not Gender Identity
The fact I am a transgender man is neither a decision nor a choice I made. It’s something I have always been, even if I could not articulate it until a few years ago. Once I realized that I am transgender, the only decision I had to make was whether to come out or to remain closeted the rest of my life.

Transgender Biology
Debates continue to rage within and without the LGBTQ community whether the concept of gender identity even exists as something separate from our biological sex. If it does, then transgender and nonbinary people are valid and not merely mentally ill. Yet, any scientific studies into whether there is a biological component behind being born transgender worries many people within the transgender community.
