humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Let us rewind a bit
Each one of us would have faced a situation where we don't have anyone to back us or support us. We are all alone with no one to even bother to ask us about our condition.
Adarsh Kumar SinghPublished 3 years ago in Humans3 Impactful Things You Can Do When You Encounter a Homeless Person.
I have been actively involved with the local homeless community since 2017. Recently, I had the opportunity to work as a Case Manager for a small non-profit that helps people in crisis situations. I was so excited to get paid to do work I absolutely loved. The work was often difficult, sometimes heartbreaking, but also extremely rewarding.
A Realization That Can Put Humans Back On Track
If there could be one notion in humans that needs a thorough overhaul and cleansing, it’s going to be the way we still assume everyone can be parents, and that becoming a parent is a must to make one’s life complete and meaningful.
The Soulful ScribblerPublished 3 years ago in HumansThe Cloak Of Toughness
Every day, your persona performs the same act. You put on your invisible cloak of toughness and you start pretending; pretending that feelings are signals of weakness, recalling your dad’s words: “real men don’t cry”. You unconsciously accept this opinion without critical thinking, because it rests on the — also unconsciously — formed belief that “crying equals weakness”.
Anthi PsomiadouPublished 3 years ago in HumansDon’t let your race define you
Whether I like it or not, I am always known as the ‘Chinese girl’. Ethnically Chinese people make up less than 2% of the population in the UK, making my racial identity stand out even more. Pre-Covid, being known as the ‘Chinese’ girl, bothered me because I am much more than my ethnicity and culture. Often, I found myself saying:
Evelyn ChenPublished 3 years ago in HumansRespect
Respect is the fragment of a disenfranchised afterthought; that only in hindsight becomes 20/20 for self-realizations. Since the dawn of mankind the muttered words of “What are we coming to?”, has always seeped from the lips of many; and here we are at another change as another batch of younger generations break away from the old. What is respect? A term that fall under being a noun, verb or idiom. A reference for particular detail, esteem for one’s worth, something or someone considered to have certain rights or privileges, a condition of being honored, a formal expression, a consideration, to refrain from intruding upon (if used as a verb) or providing an esteemed bow written on paper to another.
To Those Who Watch the Watchers
To those who watch the watchers, When deliberately addressed, fear grips you by the throat as you fail in vain to express yourself. Denial is always your first step for the things you tell yourself are not so. The game of blame will be tossed around in order to juggle the burden of who said what how. But direct my finger shall go, pointed at the depths of all that you know. I have a message for you, for you who keep notes on the other watchers alike. For this innocent war, driven by then in order to never again become now, to be smothered. To extinguish the flame that only grows as you look at it. My wisdom to share is a simple one. Trust yourself
Catalyst
I wore a lot of white in the days after he lost his head. As if the blank, innocent color erased all the things he blamed me for, all the things I'm still unconvinced are not my fault. It doesn’t matter what anyone else says, because only I was there- only I could see his eyes glazed over and foreign. Something was in him that he’d never met before. If he could have kept it at bay or saved me from it in any way, I believe he would have. Though laws of nature are stronger than human wishes. Wood sitting on the hearth, doused in oil, has no choice but to burn. My words, my actions, the colors I wore, had no say in the spreading of a raging fire.

See that man by the bookstall? No, don’t turn round. Check out at the reflection in my sunglasses. See him? Tall, balding, slight stoop, wearing a brown cord jacket?
Citizen of?...An enigma of Duality
I recently became a citizen of this great country. Everyone says that I should feel proud and happy. I am. I do. It may not show on my face right now.

It all started on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I had just finished teaching a Zoom class to a bunch of teenagers. I decided to go for a walk to reflect on the discussion that ensued in the conversation.
When Can We Hug Again?
The masks, the masks. Pull your mask up over your nose. The stress in the hallway. The quiet whispers. The huddled conversations about who, what, when, and where.
