The Auction of My Life
Two days ago my life was perfect and then it imploded. But over a little black notebook? It was not supposed go this way. A simple buy and resell. Yet here I sit, locked in another grim claustrophobic lifeless grey room wreaking of sweat and fear. At least this country has a government that protects it’s citizens. A nice change. A view too. White snowflakes fell gently from the sky like fluffy kittens clouding the view of the Toronto skyline from 20 stories up.

The New Royal Creative
His pen barreled down towards the page with such vigor and excitement, but almost just as quickly his hand pulled up in a jolt, coming to a complete halt, whilst his brain became fogged and flooded. Overwhelmingly full, and unexpectedly joyful… frustratingly and unusually muddled. He didn’t quite not know what to write, but much the opposite. What would be good enough ? What did he know for sure ? … What is it that he could possibly know for sure ?

The richest refugee on the planet
She could feel the arms of the fever surrounding her body, one by one, a monstrous octopus arising from a deep, dark sea. The water was boiling in the kettle - and the noise was almost unbearable. Shivering and dizzy, she could barely keep herself standing on her feet while looking frenetically for medicines. She took Paracetamol, a Vitamin C, a sleeping pill, and then poured the hot water from the kettle in a plastic bottle with shaking hands. "That's it; I'm almost ready to fly now.”

Empty Pages
The tip of the glass pen poised above the empty page, the blue ink gathering at the tip waiting to seep into the parchment and transform from a blank page into a journey. Moments passed by, yet the pen did not move. The hesitation now marked in minutes instead of moments. Slowly she let out a long, almost tortured sigh, but did not put the pen down.

The One Rule Game
Sam swore loudly at no one in particular as he stood at the bus stop watching his bus drive off. The money he had on him would definitely not be enough to cover a trip to work and get him lunch later. He thought about what other choices he had and decided that missing a meal was a much better option than having his manager be on his neck so early in the morning. He swore again, if only he hadn’t taken his time to make himself a whole meal. But that was in the past now, what mattered was getting to work as soon as possible.

Staring out the window, I watched Pacific Central Station get lost in the skyline of Vancouver as the train pulled away. Watching the rivers and lakes flash by as the train sped up, I couldn't help but wish that Johnny Boy was here with me to see this. The train ride through the country is so beautiful, it hurt to think that he'd never see it again.

1 - Care For What you Wish For
'Miss Mabel's Marvelous Mystery Mecca.' That sounds a little high handed, doesn't it? Really intriguing, though." Toni stretches long and lean, effortlessly gliding into the final repitition of three sun salutations. Arms stretch upward; breath slow, deliberate, even. Reposed. She is a yoga instructor and class host so movement in flow is second nature for her. "I'll be finished in three minutes, then we can head out. Maybe we can grab ice cream afterwards. Ooh, maybe i can find a cool pair of flow pants."

Y2$20K
It all started with an email chain. Fred Schubert was just taking his first sip of lukewarm coffee from the office kitchenette when he saw the email pop up in his work inbox. The forwarded message was from Jim, an old coworker, whom he hadn't heard from in a good few months. Frowning, Fred clicked on the greeting which read, "Welcome the year 2000 in with a bang!"

45 Rotations per Minute
1954 Tupelo, Mississippi A mail truck drives down a dusty road toward an old farmhouse. Hubert sits on his porch writing in a small black leather book, worn from carrying it everywhere he goes. The cover is bowed from the bulging pages that are stuffed with various items – leaves, drawings, newspaper clippings. He hums a tune and writes on a page.
