Starting Forever
It was slowly coming on 5:00 pm... as she paced back and forth anxiously awaiting for his arrival. No idea what to even expect. Would he want to just stay in and awkwardly sit on the couch staring at each other? Being this was the first time they’d finally get to touch, and actually be face to face finally after so many months of a long distance online kind of thing... but she just knew they would someday get to this moment.

The Prodigal Sunglasses
It was too hot out for the black hoodie, even with the sleeves rolled to the elbow. My phone call also distracted me. There was a fair amount of wind noise roaring through my tiny earbuds as I chatted with my boss. Several things were competing for my attention. I remember hooking the sunglasses over the zippered junction in the hoodie. I do this such that only one leg of the glass sticks out from my jacket. This way, they are less likely to shake loose. I still did just that - lose my oversized, nerdy sunglasses that fit more or less neatly over my prescription eyeglasses.

He had never seen the ocean before. Rumors had spread about that it once was beautiful, deep and mysterious. Now, it was nothing more than a desert of sand storms and whirlpools of quicksand. The majestic, constant waves had now been replaced by the mundane, static rise and fall of the dunes. Never had there been so great a contradiction of consequence since the Fall.
