Mr. Midnight
“What’s it going to be, old man?” I ask myself. “What’s it going to be?” It’s cold, even for January. I love the snow, can’t stand the cold. Something happens when you hit forty. Everything starts to crack and creak inside. And this cold cuts right through me.

HYMN
He had never seen the ocean before. Rumors had spread about that it once was beautiful, deep and mysterious. Now, it was nothing more than a desert of sand storms and whirlpools of quicksand. The majestic, constant waves had now been replaced by the mundane, static rise and fall of the dunes. Never had there been so great a contradiction of consequence since the Fall.

The Ship and Her Anchor
There is told a story to the children in Seattle, a tale of sadness and hope. As they are placed in their beds and tucked under their woven blankets, their parents weave the threads of a wondrous yarn. It is told to the children that in the midsts of an ocean, there is a ship. A ship of grand design and masterful artistry, with a sturdy, elegant mast, untearable sails, and a blue flag atop the crow’s nest center. But this is no ordinary ship, as you might know. It was made with the purpose of adventure.

The Replacement Method
There was once a city made of metal. A city, very real and vibrant, but rusted and filled with squeaking hinges and stained corners of oil. There were electric stains on the all the buildings caused by sparks that that jumped from the wires that plugged in to everything and kept the city running. It was a place filled with ghastly clanks, and ominous chinks and conks, and ear shattering screeches that can only be made from dragging a fork across a plate. But inside this city is what will surprise you. The metal city was filled with metal people.

The Greying of the Light
It was an odd thing to watch the greying of the light as we descended between the ever darkening layers of clouds. What was once a bright and clear flight had now become ash and soot colored as we touched down in the paradoxical city of Berlin - a city that boldly tries to outlive the hauntingly grievous recent past by splattering modern fonts and slogans over aged buildings. And yet it was the further past that brought us presently to this place - a celebration of protesting, of reforming, of such paradigm altering hermeneutics that the waves of that seismic shift are still experienced in every corner of Christendom. However, there was one melancholy thought that rested on my mind throughout the days - a thought, planted by a minister, that I had been wrestling with, as Jacob strove with the angel. For many, this would not have bothered them. Unfortunately, I was unable to shrug this amassing phrase from my conscience as we drove through this water colored city.
