dating
All about dating. First dates, three years into a relationship, Tinder, and more.
Deal-Breakers
I have three little torn pieces of paper, one the backside of a receipt, the other two sticky notes that have long abandoned their stick with scrawled letters on them. One has four unrelated words on it, a list of terms I liked, and wanted to stick into a piece of writing. One has one line with two opposing ideas. And the other has bullet points and ideas, and question marks near the ideas that are bad but that I refuse to cross out because they were nonetheless, my ideas. The question mark is only for my ego; that can take on life forms, and fancies itself to be a genius and a saint of words.

Dating Myths Busted for Good!
Ways of dating have pretty much changed over the years, and now it’s either a swipe right on an online application or a hello at a singles event. People have grown to be increasingly busy, and with their super hectic schedules, they hardly get time to sleep, let alone date. This is the reason people are choosing to go for personalized matchmaking services, which offer to find them their compatible mate. Matchmaking today doesn’t involve our grandma’s calling up a friend of a friend of a friend, or our colleagues trying to set us up on blind dates. Though the above mentioned are still in practice, most of the matchmaking services today are of the professional and personalized kind.

I’m SUPER inspired to write this post for you all! There’s a few conversations that mostly everyone knows you should talk through, but what about those less observed conversations that are equally important? We all know someone (or have had our own experiences) where there was something we wished we had known before getting involved.

Online Dating Over 40… or, I Thought I Was Out of High School?
To call myself a veteran in the realm of Internet dating over the age of 40, might hardly seem a badge of honor. I offer the following account as a purely cautionary tale to those of you who are considering internet dating in middle-age (sorry, but no other way to describe us) with the hopes that it will help you avoid some of the bumps and pitfalls—and perhaps garner a good laugh or two!

How Baby Boomers’ Parenting Affected Dating Habits of Millennials
Dating often becomes a controversial topic thanks to its different forms. Some prefer dating only locals, while others aim at dating single Russian ladies. Some people nowadays observe international online dating as some kind of betrayal of national interests. While there are a lot of representatives of Generation X on online dating services, there’s no surprise that online dating mainly attracts those who were born during the rapid development of computer and internet—representatives of Generation Y and Z, AKA millennials.

A New Adventure
May 4, 2010 at 8:32 PM I visited a carnival four months ago, alone. Had no reason to stop. I was in a car I didn't own. I presume I was just that bored. So I walked around for a while after purchasing a candy apple and some apple flavored drink. I played a few games, including the one where you shoot the clown in the mouth 'til the balloon pops. I won because my opponent was a child—he looked about 10. I gave him the prize, a small dragon stuffed animal. He smiled. I actually wanted it for myself. I would've given it to my son. (Later, I bought him a random gift.)

Our Story
It was a warm and peaceful spring night, the night we rekindled our friendship. Little did we know, our friendship would turn into a relationship. Sitting up all night chatting and reminiscing about the past, about how we used to live next door to each other, the time I went to the dance with you and left, and the countless times you would catch me outside laying on my rooftop at night. A few days later, we soon talked about how much we had in common, from music and art, to food and interests, we thought to decide to date.

Bed Peace
There was something in his kiss that told me that it would be our last. It would be the last time that we lie in bed together like this, his hand on the smalls of my back, my head resting delicately on his chest, his heartbeat echoing in my right ear. He breathed calmly. I sometimes tried to match my breaths with his. I couldn’t. His tranquility was far from mine.
