And What Happened This Time In Texas

While I miss being in the Lone Star State and the people I visited and met down there, I am glad to be back home, at least for a little bit.

Now that I’ve written about what happened at home while I was in Texas, I’m going to share my experiences.

What Happened?

A lot happened, so I’m going to give you the main events, other than me getting my PS4, which can read about here.

I Decided to Give Sales a Try

And no, I don’t have a job doing that. Not yet, anyway.

That probably won’t happen until the end of this year or the beginning of 2024, as we must finish my resume first.

But while down there, M helped me realize I couldn’t move much more forward with my writing and editing careers unless I made a change.

So, that’s what I’m doing.

I Got to Eat Out

We went to several restaurants while I was visiting, in a three-day period, I might add.

The first place was a Thai restaurant. The three of us were already out and about and decided to eat in the area. And it was tasty.

I still love that carrot flower

Place number two was an Italian place M and I went to for a date. And the food was delicious, especially dessert. The restaurant was also cozy, and the service was excellent.

It was delicious, too

The third restaurant was a seafood place called Smashin’ Crab that the three of us went to.

What we ate

I Ran Out of My Meds

My ADHD meds, to be precise.

Apparently, the paper prescription I’d brought with me was invalid because, regarding medications, different states might as well be different countries.

The internet misled me big time on that one.

I Met his Mom

That was an interesting moment.

Mainly because it was early in the morning, and I’d just run out of my ADHD meds, so I was a bit groggy.

But also because the first thing she did was pull me into an unexpected hug and then said she’d side with me pretty much all the time.

And while I appreciated those gestures and the ones that followed for the overlapping few days, it was also a bit overwhelming, as I’m kind of like a cat regarding new people.

What I Missed While Away

While my overall stay was enjoyable, I missed certain things back in Washington, like:

My Computer

I’ve had my laptop for years, and it’s been good to me. However, it’s getting old, and the screen is smaller than I prefer.

My All-in-one is just nicer and better suits my needs.

My Memory Foam Mattress Topper

Yeah, I got to sleep on one of those foldout beds, which is fine if you’re not a side sleeper with wide hips.

Which I am.

So, it is nice to be back in my own memory foam-topped bed, even if it’s big enough for only one person plus one chihuahua.

My Overnight Oats

Yes, I love eating oats soaked in milk and fruit overnight.

It’s healthy and easy to make, and I don’t wander around the kitchen in the morning trying to figure out what I want for breakfast. Plus, it’s filling and gives me nutrients and fiber.

Having My Own Space

While I don’t have much privacy at home, I do have my bedroom and office area to retreat to if needed.

Although it was mostly an issue after his mom arrived, she liked me immediately and came on a bit stronger than what I would have preferred.

What I Didn’t Miss

Although I missed a few things, there were plenty of things I didn’t, such as:

Bean’s Incessant Barking at Random Things

He barks at many things, primarily people outside. And it gets irritating fast, especially when I’m working on something.

Being Chilly in My Own House

We live in a single-wide mobile home built in the fifties with practically no insulation, so even with the heat on, it can be cold at times.

However, M loves the AC in his room constantly on, which drove me up the wall, especially when watching a video due to its loudness.

Feeling Stressed Over My Home Life

Other than a couple of spats while gone, I loved not having to worry about what my parents needed or thought about whatever I was doing, house chores, or anything related.

I could just be.

Do I Plan On Going Back?

Oh, definitely.

And perhaps stay.

Because it’s about damn time I started planning to live my own life. And I’m excited about it.

You better watch out, Texas! I’m coming for you.
