My inner mentor

Me and no one else!

We are born helpless and need caretakers; our parents are the first candidates to become the most influential mentors in our life. But we are also born with something else...

He is an intricate part of ourselves, woven in our very fabric, situated at the very base of our essence. It is not our soul because he is older than our soul. He was there before us and hence, contains immemorial knowledge that travels all levels, above and below us. He is there for the duration of our journey and, while he belongs to us, he has sort of a mind of his own, a purpose that goes beyond any rational understanding, for it grasps forces that go beyond what the eye can see...

His task is to prod us to be and become better and stronger, and to achieve that, ideal life is out of the question. Most of the time, our unique trials are an indirect result of what he perceived was needed to test our resolve our worth. He is not there for any other reason that we get implicated and grasp more from life than the action and reaction living provokes. What pushes us to do what we do? to try what we try? There are undoubtedly our own goals and desire but, who could claim they are the only author? The invisible mentor is driven by the obligation to teach us something about ourselves that can only belong to us and no one else. We are born alone and die alone, but we are not alone in between.

He, the entity, is there; where does he come from? From a place beyond this realm, intricately connected to the beginning of everything, Planet Earth included. He came to be through evolution and pushes us to continue on that path, as long as we are alive... that we breathe, he insists that we figure things out. The goal is simple: to make our stay on the planet worthwhile.

When we are infants, he lays dormant because there is so much to learn, there is no need for more or better, the exterior pressures due to our own growth suffice to push ourselves far beyond, we at the time, thought possible. But as we get older, this being awakens, and so does our ability to question and inquire; we need to know more, feel more, to learn more. It is that drive that sometimes puts us in an impossible situation and forces out of us yet more impossible solutions. We call it to progress, but we can't deny that the source of it all is embedded in a fabric greater than our own and, yet if it chose this body to be the one to express it, it means that the mastermind behind it all thought of us and no one else.

Anyone can choose not to use this ability to stretch beyond the set program we are being given and, the price is no heavier than not knowing, not connecting with an entity that watches over you not for your well being but rather so that you push the intricate limits of your own mind and body... that you make the adventure of life that more intense and exciting, that you contribute to the evolution of your own planet...

Life is not immortal, and at one point, it has to end, and sometimes how it ends is as important as how you lived. Whether it was slowly and peacefully in your bed or a violent and painful death, the inner mentor is there to make sure that as your life dissipates, you leave your body in peace. With the lasting sensation, you did your job; if you did your job, no lies can pass through him; remember, he was always present in you.

We all have one, and although we usually thank ours at the end, I thank him now because even if I am alone in the dark, with no other stimuli than me, I can think I can improve. The flame of my existence burns through the night and is impossible to extinguish.
