Check out these mind-blowing facts about the Pyramids!

Did you know that during the early days of pyramid construction, wealthy nobles were entombed with their still-living slaves and all of their flocks of animals? It's mind-blowing to think that someone once considered it normal to put dozens of people and hundreds of animals to death every time some rich boomer died!

The sheer size and weight of the building blocks used to construct the pyramids are absolutely astonishing. I mean, some of the larger blocks toward the base weighed over 70 tons, which is even more than an elephant!

The amount of skilled labor and prestige associated with working on a pyramid is truly remarkable. The laborers themselves were often rewarded with burial tombs that surrounded the pyramid. What an upgrade from being buried in a tiny family tomb carved onto a cliff somewhere!

The discovery of massive amounts of cow bones near an ancient worker's city helped solidify the theory that skilled laborers, not slaves, were responsible for constructing the pyramids. It's amazing to think that these pyramid workers were regularly feasting on young, tender beef at a time when meat was an extremely rare meal for most people.

Did you know that as many as about 140 pyramids have been discovered near where ancient Egypt used to be? The three pyramids in Giza's necropolis are the most famous, but there are so many more to explore!

The oldest Egyptian pyramid is believed to be the Pyramid of Djoser, built in the Sakara necropolis during the 27th Century BC. That's ancient!

The estimates of the number of workers involved in the construction of the pyramids differ significantly, but some say about 100,000 people were involved. Just imagine the scale of that workforce!

The face of the Great Sphinx is believed to represent the Pharaoh Khafra, and it's the largest monolith statue in the world. What an awe-inspiring sight!

All Egyptian pyramids were built on the West Bank of the River Nile, associated with the realm of the Dead in Egyptian mythology. The significance of their location adds an intriguing layer to their mystery!

The ancient Egyptians buried their nobility in the pyramids with burial goods ranging from everyday objects to the most precious jewelry, believing that the dead would use them in the afterlife. It's fascinating to learn about their beliefs and customs.

There was an attempt to destroy the Giza Pyramids in the 12th century by Al-Aziz, a Kurdish ruler and the second Ayyubid Sultan of Egypt. It's amazing to think about the history and challenges these incredible structures have faced!

The Great Pyramid of Giza is estimated to consist of 2,300,000 stone blocks that weighed anywhere between 2 to 30 tons, some even weighing over 50 tons. That's an astonishing feat of engineering and construction!

The pyramids of Egypt fascinated travelers and conquerors in ancient times and continue to inspire wonder in the tourists, mathematicians, and archeologists who visit, explore, measure, and describe them.
