Social media marketing is the future and it’s only going to get more popular as technology and the internet have been getting way more advanced.

Instagram has become one of the most popular social media platforms ever since it was bought by Facebook. 15 years ago if you were to tell somebody that you can actually make legit money from social media, they would’ve probably called you insane. Fast forward to 2021 and you have accounts making $1,500–3,000 a month just off endorsements and sponsorships.

Having used the app since elementary school, I’ve seen the countless amount of updates and changes made over the years and there is no better time than right now if you want to create a popular Instagram theme page.

Believe it or not, Instagram theme pages are actually starting to become a popular business model. The new features from Instagram like the Shopping Option, Reels, and stories are all big reasons for that.

What is a theme page?

Sure, influencers and brands on Instagram are still the main accounts taking over the platform and are the most common popular types of accounts but something that doesn’t get talked about nearly as much as it should are theme pages.

Theme pages usually don’t create their content, they instead curate popular niche-specific content. Think of it as a collection of the topic the account is about. The engagement rates are often high for these pages as well.

Here are some examples of popular theme pages:

The most popular and highly profitable niches with the highest engagement rate are travel, beauty, health and fitness, and business-themed accounts.

How to Make Money on Instagram

You shouldn’t think about the money until you have at least 3,000–5,000 followers and a steady engagement rate.

There are plenty of ways to make money off Instagram and that’s why it’s as popular as it currently is right now. Sponsored posts for different brands are what pays the big bucks though. Don’t be expecting these brand accounts to message you though, once you really scale your page to over 10,000 followers then you’ll have some business inquiries.

Tips for Growing a Theme Page

It’s going to be a long process growing your account from scratch just like any business, there is a risk you’re playing because it’s not common for theme pages to blow up right away. It can take years to get your first 10,000 followers it just depends on the niche you chose and how unique your content is.

Let’s say you just created an account and you are at 0 followers. Aim with a goal of posting at least two or three photos a day and adding some videos as well. The more content you post, the more people that’ll come across your page and hopefully give you a follow.

The big key factor with growing on Instagram is making it on the explore page. What is it and how do you make it on the explore page? Your explore page is different from everyone else’s. Posts on the explore page are chosen based on the user’s activity across the app. A good way at increasing your chances of going on the explore page is by reposting content from other similar theme pages and crediting them in the description.

When you are just starting off, the only way to grow somewhat fast is by following accounts that are liking and commenting on the posts of other theme pages of the same niche as you. I know, I hate the follow-for-follow method just as much as you do but it’s the only way to grow your page and get followers fast. I’d rather not wait 2 years just to get my first 1,000 followers organically. It also helps to find other theme pages with less than 1,000 followers and engage with them in the hopes of them doing the same for you.

When posting something you should always put at least 5 hashtags. A common mistake with hashtags is that people always just use the most popular ones, which results in nobody seeing them. Try using two popular hashtags and then for the next three, use a niche-specific long-tail hashtag so that your post sticks out. It’s similar to how keywords are used.

Conclusion

Anyone who tells you that Instagram is dying is full of it. With over a billion active users there is no stopping how popular it is.

It’s not too late to start a theme page and make money. These pages are only going to get more popular as the months go on, that’s how powerful the internet has developed to be.

Instagram theme pages have their own brand and it’s important to create your own brand that’s unique to you and stands out from other pages. You can even sell the theme account once it starts to become really big if you ever get bored of it.
