Leave Vegans in Peace

I am not a vegan, but the stuff that I see vegans go through is terrible. Just leave them alone.

I know that the vegan population is starting to grow and I think that's great. I, myself, will continue eating meat, but I like the fact that people have choices in their diet and stick to their principles.

There are too many people giving vegans crap for not having enough protein or iron etc. It kind of irritates me. How would you like it if someone was trying to tell you what to eat? This is sometimes reciprocated by vegans giving us a moral speech about how bad eating meat is. Why can't we all just get along?

The fact of the matter is that there are a larger number of meat eaters out there and a portion of them will voice their opinion to vegans about why they should eat meat. I don't think this is right. Times are changing and we should start accepting everyone as they are.

Someone else's health concerns aren't your business. A large argument that carnivores usually talk about is nutrition. We should feel like we live in a free society where you can make decisions for yourself. As adults, we should be smart enough to make decisions on our own. vegans are generally pretty responsible when it comes to their diets. They take into consideration how much iron, vitamins, and proteins they need. vegans have been around for a long time and today we have the internet. I'm sure that vegans can figure out how to eat properly to sustain a happy, harmonious, healthy body. It's really none of our business what people ingest into their bodies.

In Canada some people are concerned, as there is universal health care and as a collective we all pay for everyone that goes into the hospital. Generally vegans are healthier than carnivores. It's actually the vegans that complain to us carnivores to stop eating so much meat to eliminate heart failure, cancers, and blood pressure issues. To them I would say, if we leave you alone, please allow us to enjoy ourselves, as we slowly kill ourselves.

One of the common concerns that meat eaters have with vegans is simply that it's just not what they're used to. What I mean by this is that people love others to emulate themselves a lot. We eat meat, so we expect others to eat meat. It's the same thing with religion, sexual orientation, and so on. I don't really have a solution for this. People have to really start minding their own business and stop telling others how to live. Living our own lives is hard enough. Telling someone to follow in our own footsteps can be sometimes be irresponsible. How are we certain that we know the perfect path in life? We don't know anything and it's tearing us apart.

Besides, you have to respect someone choosing a vegan lifestyle. It's not an easy thing to get into. They've been used to eating a certain way and they decided to change their whole lifestyle for it. It's not easy to find cheap and easy things to eat when you're vegan. The options are getting better as veganism is becoming more and more popular, but still to this day the choices are dismal.

There's of course multiple reasons why someone may become vegan and we can't simply clump them all into one. Some don't have a choice, they have to eat a vegan diet because they have to for some sort of health reason. There's some that don't like the taste of meat and that can't be changed. If you don't like it then you don't like it. We shouldn't force that person to eat it if they really hate it. There are some that converted to vegan because they believe it helps animals. Whatever the reason it is they're in it for the long haul.

We have to be supportive to them because they need our support. It's a tough and they don't need someone nagging at them to make it even tougher. It's good to see different perspectives. Try to see the world through their eyes and understand them. Maybe you'll make a good friend in the process.
