“Where’s my turned over money truck?” Miguel thought. Everyday he went to work came back home. Got his weekly paycheck, paid bills and repeat. It seemed to be the same thing week end and week out. Never a new chance, never a change, never a break.

Then he would watch the news, or read a story online and there always seemed to be a report of someone who started a gofundme, tictoc, found money or some other circumstance which lead to a large sum of money and suddenly all their dreams come true.

He was an educated man, stayed out of trouble, didn’t do anything too unreasonable so why nit him? Why couldn’t he ever catch a break? Why couldn’t he win, just once.

“Hey Miguel”

“What is it John”

“We’re about to go over to the beach and spend the day starting off a 3-day weekend. You wanna come?”

“You know I have to work till 7”

“Blow it off and come now. They won’t miss you. It’s not like they approve time off when you ask anyways. Come on, have fun”

“Maybe I’ll show up after work”

“Man, you always say that and you’re always too tired. Whatever, we’ll be there till way after midnight either way”

As John left Miguel got to thinking. Why not cut out early? His boss was taking off early and chances are he could sneak off 30 minutes after that and now one would notice. Sounded like a plan to him and as he boarded the bus to work he determined to do just that, as long as Linda wasn’t there that is, she would ruin everything if she was, but he’d worry about that later.

He was so wrapped up in the thought of leaving early he didn’t even noticed the little black book in the seat next to him when he sat his lunch on top of it and he just grabbed everything when it was time to go. It wasn’t until his lunch time in fact when he noticed that he had grabbed someone’s book by mistake. Maybe there is a name or phone number inside he thought as he opened it.

Yet there was nothing there. No name no number, just a blank notebook. “Okay, so I got a new notebook” thought Miguel and proceeded to write a few things down into it. “I’d better make a to-do list for my paycheck to make sure I don’t go over and a time scheduled to make sure I get enough rest in case I do stop by the party.

So he wrote a few items down:

Leave work early-

Invest in Bitcoin

Stop by party and leave at 11pm

Once he’d written those he stopped to eat and speak to a few friends. When he looked back at the little black note book there were note outside his notes

Leave work early ------ Linda’s watching

Invest Bitcoin ---- $100 in Ethereum for 3 days then withdraw

Stop by party leave at 11pm ---- leave at 10 a fight is gonna break out

The notebook gave notes by his notes. What was this? Was someone playing a trick on him? None of his friends had been near him and he didn’t recognize the writing. What was this??!!!!

A joke. Had to be. Miguel decided that someone was playing games with him. Whatever. His 30min lunch was over anyways. Time to get back. He was ready to leave and that party was sounding better and better. Yep, right on schedule there goes Bruce out t he front door. If his wife ever found out he leaves early every Friday……but not his concern. Time for him to “take a bathroom break” slide to clock out and then to the Part…

“Oh, hey Linda…!!!”

“Hey Miguel. How are you? What’s going on?”

“Oh, nothing much just heading to the restroom. You know got to drink 8 glasses a day.”

“Oh yeah, tell me about it. My bladder can’t hold a pea size worth. “

“Yeah, well I’ll see you around”

“Yeah, I’ll see you around Miguel.”

Dang! Old Nosey was right there! Just waiting as soon as Bruce left. She needs to act her wage and stop getting into everyone business trying to suck up! Hmmm, the notebook was right. Looks like he was working his whole shift today. Good news is with Ms. Tattle Tell there no one else would have a chance to leave early either so it would be easier to meet the quota today so maybe he wouldn’t be to tired to go to the party.

And a Party it was! Man, it was lit!! Miguel was glad he stopped by, hurting feet and all. Women were hot and the drinks were cold (usually it was the other way around). By time 10’oclock begin to come around he had just began to relax and forget about week….and the little black book.

“Hey man, that’s my girl!!!” Miguel turned his head. 2 guys had started an argument, a drunk argument, one of the worse kind. Time to go. He nodded and left as quick as he could. By time he got home he heard the news. Knives were involved, shots had rang out and the police were called. Leaving was the best idea. Just as the book had said. Miguel grabbed it and stared.

2 out of 3, 2 out of 3 right, but someone was just messing with him right. Well there was no one here now. No one to trick him. Let’s try it.:

Fish for dinner

He closed it and re-opened the little black book:

Fish for dinner ------ Chicken fish has gone bad

“We’ll see about that.” Using lemon, garlic, paprika, and honey he made fried fish and rice that had no spoiled taste and smelled even better that it tasted. “Hmm, well 2 out of 3 isn’t bad. Glad I checked before I invested that $100.” He thought as he cleaned and went to sleep for the night. However sleep was not his that night for no matter how much honey or lemon was used, bad fish is bad fish and he paid the price….all night.

In the morning, once he felt better he grabbed the little black notebook and just stared. Ethereum…$100….3 days. That was a significant amount but so far everything had been right. Should he?

3 days later he dared to look…….his cryptocurrency was now worth $20,000!!! The book! The little black book!!!!
