Is Hate Speech Good or Bad (A Christians Perspective )

Jacinda Ardern, who is currently the Prime Minister, and The Labour Party would like to enforce a new law called Hate Speech. Hate Speech is a law when you cannot judge people about their gender, who they married, their skin colour and more. In the next couple of paragraphs I will talk about opinions, the impact it has had or will have on people's lives and gender. I have decided to do my topic on this because there has been a lot of debating on whether it is good or bad. I am going to try and convince you and I whether it is good or bad.

The Hate Speech law is good because it means you cannot directly attack people on what is known as their ¨protected characteristics¨ such as age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. Galatians 3:28 says: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Which basically means we are all the same and should be loved the same, God has made us all how we are. Some things I would agree with, like peopleś races ( the colour of their skin ). My auntie who is non christian says that we should not judge other peopleś lives, and the choices they make.

Hate speech can also be bad. Does the bible actually say anything about marrying the same gender? Yes, in Leviticus 20: 13 it says If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. This is basically saying that you can not marry the same gender because then you will have committed abomination which means you will cause disgust and loathing. It also says that they shall surely be put to death. Also we have the right to have our own opinion. I agree that you should not say anything in public about it but you can have your opinion as long as you are not directly attacking people.

Hate Speech has had an impact on a lot of people, including me. It has had an impact on me because my non-christian and christian parts of the family have been debating and I have been in the middle of all of it. Hate speech can make people's lives full of debating, protesting or having heated discussions; there might also on rare occasions, be fighting with your fists.

The impact Hate Speech will have on people’s lives include not being judged or teased for being who you are. The changes to the Hate Speech law were first thought about after the 15th of March mosque attack. Schools could be shut down because of what they would be teaching children. Churches could be banned. People could be arrested because of their opinion.

One of the categories they want to include in the hate speech law is Gender. We are all created by God. Some people are a different gender than others. Because most Christians are against people with a different gender from male and female, people with that gender feel like they are not welcome at church. It doesn’t matter what we think it is about what God thinks and He doesn’t care who he is saving, he wants to save everyone from sin, not just Christians. Everyone should feel welcome at church, it doesn’t matter who it is. We shouldn’t reject anybody, we should love them and include them like Jesus would. I don’t know the reasoning but God makes people like that on purpose, he knows what we will be like before we are born and I am sure He has the ability to change us before we are born. Even though we should accept everyone, Hate Speech will prohibit us from having our own opinions. The bible says God has given us our gender. God says that he will save and fix everyone. Jesus hangs out with sinners because He is a doctor and doctors don’t hang out with healthy people. We are created as male and female. We image God by being male and female. Everyone is equal, God made Eve out of Adam's side, not his head so he could rule over her, not out of his feet so he could walk all over her, but out of his side so they were equal. Even when we are debating about our opinions, we need to remember that there is someone in the middle of this. NO ONE is perfect. We are all broken images and the bible says that multiple times. God has come to save us. In Genesis 1:26-27, it says we are created by God in his image. In a couple of places in the bible it says that there is male and female, but there are no other genders. There are different types of transgender, on this end are the people who think it is fashionable to be transgender, in the middle are the people who are comfortable with their gender but they don’t think they match the stereotypes, and on this end are the people who are not happy with their gender.

So basically what I said in this speech were the good and bad things about Hate speech. Now I will leave it up to you to decide whether it is good or bad.
