Here's What You Should Do on Valentine's Day If You Are Single

Because Valentine's Day should celebrate all love, especially the Justin Bieber kind. LOVE YOURSELF.

Yes yes, we know, Valentine's Day sucks when you're single. You succumb to the scrutiny of your mother every year around this time about grandchildren and when she is going to get any. The glowing reality of red hearts and pink roses are everywhere, reminding you that you're still, after a number of failed attempts at love, very, very single. Or perhaps it was a choice—then by all means! But it doesn't mean that Valentine's Day will be any less frustrating.

But have no fear, friend! I've compiled a list of things you can do on Valentine's Day to keep from reminding you of your romantic downfall this year! (Hooray!) Rather than choosing a man (or woman) this year, why not choose one of these instead? Enjoy!

Find a friend and go wild on every couples' deals you can get your hands on.

Take advantage of all the couples deals by grabbing a friend and getting that 50 percent off couples massage, or that great deal at that restaurant you really like. Nobody really needs to know you aren't actually dating. Plus, everyone will be too busy to notice that you haven't kissed once anyways.

Change your look.

If the barista at your favorite coffee shop still hasn't noticed you, but you can't help but stare aimlessly into his eyes every time he remembers your order you have every single day, then it's time to change up your look! Cut that hair or pick a new color! He'll definitely want to see what else you've got after a cute change.

Go on a date.

You know you've enjoyed chatting that guy up on Tinder, so why not ask him out on a first date...on Valentine's Day? There is no better time than V-Day to show a man a good time, even if you learn that you might not want a second date afterwards. In the event that you surprise yourself—you're welcome.

Take that class you've been wanting to take.

If there is one day in the year that all your favorite classes you've been waiting to try aren't full to the brim, it's Valentine's Day. Grab a spot in that full-but-now-empty spin class, or try that yoga spot you've been waiting to try. You'll not only have more space to yourself, but you'll finally get around to motivating yourself to doing things you said you were going to do.

Buy all your favorite things and be thankful you don't have to share them with anyone.

Here is your chance to buy all your favorite chocolates, wines, candies, and meals, because you won't have arms and forks reaching across you to steal a bite of your food. No more giving up fries or sharing a single drop of your wine. This is your day to truly indulge!

Do a digital detox.

If you're probably going to get annoyed with all the sappy romantic couple things that will most likely end up on social media, then a digital detox is probably healthy for you. Unplug for a night and have that tea with that book you've been wanting to get into. You'll be glad you did.

Do everything your ex never liked you to do.

He never liked it when you wore high heels that made you taller than him. He always rolled his eyes when you rocked out to that wicked awesome rap playlist in your car. He never liked your idea of getting a cat, either. Well I've got great news for you: this Valentine's Day, go ahead and rock those glittery stilettos, head-bang to that amazing rap playlist, and get yourself a cat or two! Make a day of it, and thank your ex for all the great new memories.

Take a vacation.

OK, so the globe photo is a bit much since you've only got one extra day to make of it, but taking a trip out not only helps you steer clear of the V-Day entertainment, but it also gives you a chance to make that traveling excuse a reality. Keep in mind that this could very well be the last time you get to travel someplace alone, so make the best of it while you can.

Celebrate Galentine's Day.

Rally the girls and spend your Single's Appreciation Day the way you should: together, re-watching episodes of Sex and the City and recalling how each of you met one another. Eat brunch from dawn to dusk and splurge a little more on that wine, because you're all goddamn worth it.

Go to a comedy club.

As they say: Laughter is the best medicine, and the best medicine it is! Hit up the comedy clubs for a night out with friends and if being out in the public eye isn't your thing, then you can always stream a Netflix Comedy Special instead.

Throw an Anti-Valentine's Day party.

Whether you are single by choice or just waiting it out for the right guy to come along, an Anti-Valentine's Day party is just the thing to brighten up your romance-absorbed Valentine's Day. Invite all your single friends who agree that V-Day is just as cheesy as it sounds and ban all the red, pink, and heart-shaped things for 24 hours. Bash February 14th all you want and really just make a night of it!

Gather the single troupes and play Tinder Roulette.

Rules of the game: plug your phone into your TV, arm your friends with popcorn and wine, and let them take full reign in swiping your lefts and rights for the night. Maybe if you take enough turns, you might even end up with an actual date for next Valentine's Day.

Do a Secret-Santa style Valentine's Day exchange.

Gather all your single friends and have them all pull a name from a hat, just like you would do for Secret Santa. Instead of purchasing a Christmas gift for the name they picked, they will instead send them flowers or chocolates, or perhaps even take them out to a nice dinner. This one is always a good way to do something nice for someone you care about without the added pressure of doing it for EVERYONE.

Have a spa day.

Let all your fantasies about romance and Valentine's Day float away with a bubble bath or a mani-pedi. What better way to treat yourself if you don't have someone else to treat you?!

Subscribe to a singles subscription box.

Thanks to the success of Birchbox, subscription boxes have become a great new way of sharing swag bags and treating yourself to a sweet surprise each month. Sites like SinglesSwag have boxes filled with beauty products, snacks, and books that can be delivered right to your door to satisfy all your single-life needs, at least for another month until your next box arrives!

Go shopping and grab some of those great holiday deals.

Instead of spending your hard earned money on flowers and chocolates for someone else, why not put it towards updating your own wardrobe? Take advantage of those holiday deals and score a few signature pieces for yourself so that you're prepared for when you really need to flaunt your stuff.

Babysit for that couple who never gets a chance to go out.

You probably know someone who has a few little munchkins and can never get the time to go out on the town. Why not do them a favor and babysit since you'll be free anyways? They might even pay you for your services, and it's definitely a great way to make a few extra bucks on a day you can't utilize yourself. Just remember that you'll be doing them a favor. Use this information as you wish.

Have a movie marathon that features only movies of your favorite celebrity crush.

Whether it's Jennifer Lawrence or Johnny Depp, what better way is there to spend Valentine's Day than with your on-screen love? You're free to swoon all you want, eat all the ice cream you choose, and best of all, you don't even have to leave your couch if you don't want to. Best of ALL worlds.
